downside of iphone is lack of flash, some would say cannot create groups for sending sms-es. and a 'controlled' app store and apple ecosystem. So, very controlled environment, you can get ease of mind in terms of apps, so far no reports of malware stuff.

Android, conversely, is almost completely lacking in control in terms of apps and operating systems, there are many versions of Androids out there, depending on the phone you get. Advantage, you get all kinds of apps (including pxxn apps, hehe) but you are at risk of downloading malware. Also, at the moment, not all phones can be upgraded to the lastest version of Android, so not all apps in the Android Market Place will work with whatever version you have. plus android has flash.

however, in terms of build quality, Apple has relatively little complains compared to current Android phones.

Alternatively, Nokia has their new Meego systems coming out soon, the X8 looks good.

Samsung has Bada, a new operating system out in Samsung Wave i believe.

and Windows will have their new OS, which looks gorgeous, out in September.

Personally, at the moment, iphone is the clear front runner, coz i LOVE my apps, and the screen is fantastic. and since i don't play flash games, the lack of flash does not affect me. However, should wait for iphone 4.

Dell Streak is also good, but 5inch screen, not sure if your pockets are large enuff to put that in. hehe.

Apple is a controlled freak organization, some even said tyrant... so things they wanted you to do, you can do it perfectly and seamlessly. Things that they dont, it is almost impossible.

And the things that they dont want you to do can be unthinkable, like creating your own ringing tone or even creating personal picture folder. you have to do using your PC and try to sync it back.

I am using a 3GS, at this point I dont see the needs to upgrade, the retina display is nice, but i am ok with my 3GS display. And i dont do video calls so facetime doesnt lure me. the other new features will be more OS based which is also avail for 3GS

Anyone here has a copy of OS X 10.5 Leopard to loan me or an extra copy to sell? I got my iPhone 4 yesterday but I was unable to sync with my iTunes becoz my old pokey iBook is running on OS X 10.4. My iBook is running on PowerPC chip so I need a copy that is compatible. Appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks.

i think iBook cannot run 10.5 unless its hacked

hi, can any1 tell me if i copy from a friend itune apps (paid or free) into my itune apps can i install the apps into my iphone (non-jailbreak)?

Actually, there are several. The first issue is with memory. It is not possible to upgrade or add to the iPhones memory. You have either 6 GB, 8 GB, or a 16 GB model and that is it. If you love to download content and music, you will quickly find yourself running out of space. This means loading and unloading content from your iPhone to your computer. Nothing is more annoying than starting a download and finding out you cannot complete it because your memory is too low. This was one area that Apple missed on. Teenagers can download an amazing amount of music and video content. Having the option to use memory sticks would have been a nice feature

Many iPhone users are unhappy with the fact that the iPhone battery is sealed and cannot be changed. The overall consensus with the current owners is that they were not warned about the battery situation. Apple is being sued about the iPhone battery and the lack of disclosure on the fact it cannot be changed. I agree with the users here. If you shell out $500-$600 for a phone and it dies in 6 months, you are going to be pretty upset. The ability to change cell phone batteries is standard within the cell phone industry. Perhaps apple would have been better off with making money on battery replacements and this would have many users happy and Apple out of court. Short battery life is the number one complaint of heavy cell phone users. This is another downside to the iPhone.

Dear MachoMacho... iPhone 4 is not the only smartphone available in the market - you have other choices as well. So, if you cannot live with the limitations of iPhone 4, there are Android, Symbian and Windows Phone 7 smartphones available.

For me, I just want to use a smartphone that is easy to use, able to sync my address book, calendars, music, videos, etc. with minimal hassle, don't have to worry too much on data security and malicious apps, ability to update newer version of firmware, and looks good as well. Simply put, I want a smart plug-and-play phone, and I can live with the "limitations" of iPhone 4.

If the battery 'dies' or cannot hold a reasonable charge (Apple lists the T&C on their website, go look it up)

within the warranty period, you can take it back for a 1 to 1 exchange.

For those who want additional peace of mind, you can still purchase an additional 1 year of warranty from Apple and register it before the first year warranty is over.

Contrary to your claim, the iPhone 4 is also available in 32 gb configuration.

Other phones that support memory expansion slots usually have very low on-board memory in the phone.

They come bundled with a free 8 gb or usually a 16 gb card. Capacity-wise this makes it on par with the iPhone.

Once you are out of space you need to house-keep too. Will you seriously buy a few 16 gb cards to keep plugging in and out of your phone? 32 gb ones are available but they are more expensive, and less common. (And remember, most Android phones available now have very low onboard memory so apps often have to be moved to the storage card, so you will have to copy those files to your other memory cards if you want to keep swapping those cards - and also risk losing them cos they are so small)

I just downloaded Infinity Blade and I must say this game is just so awesome. The 3D graphics is stunning and the audio..you have to play it with your earphone to experience it. Only available on iPhone and iPad.
