jy2012
anyone always have their words misconstrued? some times I try to be friendly with my words and I am labelled as over zealous. sometimes I am not even interested (and hence using a more curt reply) and people actually think that I sounded cool.hais. is this why it's so hard to make friends over the virtual world? Could it be that everyone expects an almost instantaneous reply but yet it must be done so subtlely to avoid sounding so desperate. oh my. how I wish they could see my expression. Blacque
Wanted to type something here... but I couldn't think of anything relevant. Slynn
haha, don't need to try to be friendly. People may get uncomfortable s: There was once i tried to msg this guy and i think i got slightly too annoying cos i was 'too friendly' and can't stop rattling on in the end i left him alone till he msged me back before i initiated the conversation again. Things went on smoother from thereOtherwise, I think it's actually rather easy to talk about things in the virtual world lo DD: EasleyLim 1 "To live is the rarest thing in the world. jy2012
lawl. how do we define friends online seriously. I personally don't find it easy since you can hardly tell emotions very accurately through mere words.

Irodorido
Skype is a good online tool.I'm a avid gamer in the past, and I have make many friends than I want to. Friends by my definition is that we have fun, share life stories (help each other as well), keeping each other entertaining and trusting.Well emoticons are useful to tell your emotion and the choice of words(seriousness) used in a post also affects how does the "reader think about your post and guess about your emotions", it takes minimal effort to guess how is the poster feeling but it will be better if the reader know the poster well.Even though I am no professional but I can say that you may need to let the others know you better. If a person give you a plain response to your overzealous comment, then he might not be interested (just for the sake of collecting post counts or replying) or just too busy for something else.Edited due to some grammar mistakes. closetedlestroll
Sorry to be a nazi but should topic be titled as Lost in Translation instead? i.e. receipient of the message may not completely grasp the full meaning intended by the sender...? if words can already be misinterpreted on a face to face meeting, it would definitely be worst online or via text since there are very little emotions involved. If you really wanna convey meaning you probably may have to be abit more exaggerated in your responses, eg using !!!!!!! instead of just ! and using sad face emoticons to show your "sadness".
