Anyone else still watch this show?

Personally, Survivor has been my favourite reality TV show since back in the day and it's lasted for 15 years thus far.

Apparently, they are also renewing the show for another 2 seasons at least, bringing it to 16 years.

 

Some elements that I like about the show are the format, the theme-ing, the challenges and camp life. It does get interesting some times when you see the conflicts people have too.

 

If you watch Survivor, let me know what you like about it. Perhaps we'd have something to talk about too.

I do too but i rarely watch channel 5 so in the end i never know when the new season starts screening or what time it screens...

This whole season is such a snoozefest. It's like Survivor Nigaragua deja vu all over again, with majority of the cast clueless or/and boring. Players like Keith, Wes, Alec, Drew seemed to have stumbled upon the island by accident and simply trying to sleepwalk their way through without a clue to what is going on, like some brainless zombies or something.

The only saving grace left I think is Natalie. She seems to be intelligent, socially and physically competent and is clearly not afraid to backstab in a heartbeat to further herself in the game.

The last 2-3 episodes of San Juan were kinda good but it's a kinda too little, too late for me.

Now I just can't wait for this season to be over so that we all could get on with our lives and to watching the next great season of Survivor hopefully along the likes of Cagayan or Fans vs Favorites or Heroes vs Villains.

After all the build up to the Josh boot I am kind of over this season. Barely watching the episodes now, but I agree that Natalie is a player. Am rooting for her this season.

 

Previous seasons that I enjoyed were Pearl Islands, Vanuatu, Guatemala, China, Micronesia and Philippines just to name a few. Any favourite players that you have from seasons past?

I loved Micronesia, Heroes vs Villains and most recently Cagayan!

 

I thought that Philippines and the first Blood vs Water were very solid seasons too!

 

In fact I think all the recent winners like Denise, Cochran, Tyson and Tony played great games.

Totally agree with you 169% - the 1st Blood Vs Water is so much better what with masterful strategists, backstabbers, double dealers and blindslides aplenty.

This sounds totally shallow I know, but being a very visual person, I also enjoyed that season due to the higher content of eye candies e.g John & Candice, Aras & Vytas, Hayden & Kat et al. That alone was motivation to watch Survivor i guess.

My fave player of course is Parvati Shallow ( no pun intended). She's one beauty with brains (and balls) when it comes to surviving the elements.

Longtime hardcore fan of the show, all the way back to season 2 (Australian Outback)! Interest kinda died out in recent years though... the quality of contestants has been dropping.

I watched all the way up to Redemption Island (#22), then Caramoan (#26), and now San Juan (#29)... though I agree, this season hasn't really been doing too much for me. Natalie seems to be the only smart one, Jon is quite overconfident, and the rest are purely reactive.

Fave Player(s):
Yul (CI)/Yau-Man (Fiji)/Ken (Gabon)/Rupert (PI).

Greatest Strategist(s):
Boston Rob/Cirie

Fave Season(s):
FvF, HvV. Genre-savvy players are fun to watch. Fooling repeat players adds a whole new level of thinking.
Cook Islands for the whole underdog thing they had going on.

Least liked seasons:
Redemption Island, because there was too much of Russell by then, plus Russell and Rob were the only two smart players (and neither were eye candy), and once Russell was gone Rob pretty much had it easy :/
Fiji, because the cast was scouted to be on the show, and they were nearly all HORRIBLY TERRIBLE (except Yau-Man and maybe Earl)

But it's true, it's not a very popular show in SG anymore. Had to resort to downloaded it since Channel 5 places it at such late timings....

This sounds so very shallow and utterly superficial, but I love Cook Islands for its high content of buffed boys and eye candies - J.P, Brad, Yul, Nate, Adam, Candice and Parvati.

I think apart from Fans Fv Faves and Allstar and Cagayan, Cook Islands has many A-listers or/ and memorable players in the form of Parvati, Candice, Yul, Ozzy, Johnathan.

And oh, these are my own subsidiary awards :

Survivor Babe : it's a toss up between Candice and Parvati.

Survivor Dreamboat : it's (in)between J.P and John Cody. And in my wildest dreams, I'll gladly be the 3rd wheel, which ain't gonna happen. Not in this lifetime.

I like Cook Islands because I have very high respect for Yul, one of the very few winners who didn't cheat and lie to win the game. Not that I despise cheaters and liars that win, but it's just so much harder to win with honesty sometimes.

So true... and not just that, but I think it's also cause he was playing against reasonably good/fit players, was on a team that was down 4-8 after mutiny AND brought his whole team to the final 4 (with Ozzy's help) with a clean strategy. Massive respect.

None of the other winners really came close.

Fabio probably came closest, but only because he played the game like a dumbo(?). Up till now I still dunno whether his blur cock-ness on the show was real or fake...

Bob in Gabon had an honest game too (unless you count fake idols as lying), but never faced the crazy odds that Yul did.

Earl in Fiji, but that was cause everyone else just plain SUCKED. Except Yau. Who SO VERY NEARLY WON (except for that truck deal fail :/)

Chris in Vanuatu, but that was cause the girls' alliance imploded and they all killed off each other and Chris sided with Scout/Twila

So yeah, I lamented earlier that this season was kinda snoozy especially pre-merge, but guess now I've got to do some backpedaling : but whoa...!!

I would have never imagined saying this but the finale episode is kinda epic - super glad the right person won!!

Didn't catch the last few episodes as I was away. But glad that Natalie won.

 

Now on to Survivor: Worlds Apart. Funny how they had One World like 3 years ago and now Worlds Apart. Oh well, looking forward to 3 tribes again! The buffs are out too.

 

Also, don't miss the 30th season anniversary buff.

 

 

After awhile, I wish they would go back to the black border for the logo. Just for classic looks.

I don't know, don't find anyone to really root for this season unfortunately.

And not much eye candy either... Much preferred Cambodia to this.

Most people are fleshed out, not everyone is a gamebot, we actually learn more about the contestants... I'm loving this season MUCH more than Cambodia. xD

I guess I'm not feeling this cast. Whereas with Cambodia I already knew them beforehand.

 

Its pretty telling when I didn't want to know who got voted out in Cambodia before watching the episodes and for Kaoh Rong I just read the wiki and not watch the episodes at all.

While I would agree that the characters this time round is a little more bland, I'm pretty keen if the super idol concept would ever be played out. Hopefully this won't turn out to be an anti-climax twist of the season!
