yandao breaches BnB rule

Yandao was charged over his role in providing illegal short-term stays to tenants.

Property agents Terence Tan En Wei, 35, and  a chub face four charges each for renting out their private property to others for under six months. The yabdao had used popular home-sharing service Airbnb.

According to court documents, he had allegedly worked together to rent out four units at D'Leedon condominium in Farrer Road for short-term stays without permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).NP_20171206_JNCHARGE06-X1W_1674351.jpg?i

If you look at today's Straits Times (28 Feb 2018), there's a very cute picture of him on page B3  :D

(The picture on the ST website is not the same one though.)

Yeah I agree, that was hilariously bitchy.

I understand MND and URA announced they were considering to allow such short-term stays. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/parliament/scope-for-short-term-private-home-rentals-in-singapore-mnd-9931810. I really wonder what I'd do as a new home-owner if this goes through. I understand both sides of the coin - the free-market economy shows there are willing landlords and visitors, but it does not take into account the externalities of nuisance and crime on the neighbours.

When you say new home owner, do you need private property or HDB?

those fall under 2 different sets of linitations

Hdb confirms not allowed to lease below 6 mths.

What I don't understand is, if a visitor needs to stay in sg for 5 mths, so he can only in hotel?

Owners of private residential properties are prohibited from renting out their property for less than 3 consecutive months. This is unless they have permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to do so.

Also,up to 6 unrelated people are allowed to stay in a private residential property at any one time. Any more than that and the URA’s permission will be required.

Yep. If i understood correctly, the govt only would consider this for private property and definitely not HDB.

And yes, strictly on a legal basis, that visitor must stay in a COMMERCIAL establishment like a hotel (maybe hostel accommodation? Im not sure) and not a RESIDENTIAL estate, where the monetary transaction is unregulated.

Above 6 mths are assumed employed here? Less than that smells suspicion to our robotic westminster aping bureaucrats?
