Actually, of the serials that she has done since pregnancies, I thought the Aids drama was her best. Seriously I thought she deserved to be nominated, she was incredibly touching, moving n understated in there.

Why all the Z-Tay bashing? Seriously uall keep complaining about her acting, list me shows that u felt she didn't do well in? The Ultimatum wasn't her best but she was at least better than Fann ,it was really the lame script that pulled everyone down though i admit her acting in that show was alittle too melodramatic, Aids show she was really really good.

That year when By My Side came out, The Little Nyonya dominated the television viewership and awards show. At the same time, that year was especially abundant with outstanding female roles such as Chen liping, Felicia, Fann, Jeanette, and unfortunately Joanne. Yes she was left out in the cold for that Aids show in terms of recognition. In terms of popularity, I agree she is no longer at the peak which is why she did not get any fave character awards.I am not surprised. Best Actress awards wise, her role and acting was understated and quiet as compared to the other more dramatic and melodramatic roles that really showcase alot of "ACTING". A good example was joanne Peh's tragic role in Nyonya. Thus she was most probably left out from the nomination list probably due to that reason in which the panel of judges thought she wasn't "obvious" enough, not that she isn't good but she was really great in that Aids role. The trajectory of her character as compared to the other nominees seemed less exiciting. But you know, alot of actors and actresses get overlooked in role that they were great in but becuz it was too subtle and understated for recognition. However, I think her role in Devotion is probably her last chance to shine. And I think she knows it. Wish her all the best.

Acting does not neccesarily equate to good box office returns, high viewership and marketability. If you look at Rabbit Hole, that film earned very little in the box office but would you say that the acting in the film was bad? And taiwanese idol dramas are often badly acted but yet they garner high viewership, and thats becuz the idols are highly marketable and have huge fanbases. Not necessarily that their acting were awards-worthy.

Like i said, her upcoming series is her last chance to prove that she still can anchor a series and be outstanding in a lead role. Hopefully that show can silence most of her critics. But if it doesn't...well than that's too bad for her. Though I still think she is a good actress. Anyway all artistes go through ups and downs. No one is always at the peak all the time. I guess she is going through that now. And its up to her whether she can make a comeback again.
