Read the small print of the testing at AFA. that's why better to test in Malaysia or Thailand. Quote

I can assure you that in the 20+ years that we have operated the AfA anonymous test site, we have done a great deal of justice for the community of persons living with HIV. We are, as our name suggest an anonymous test site, and will never provide any information to anyone without approval from the client, so no one is automatically registered. Hundreds have been diagnosed at our centre and we do our best to link them to care where they feel most comfortable with. We do not coerce anyone into accepting anything if they are uncomfortable with the arrangements. We value the trust and relationship we have built with the communities we pledge to serve and will not do anything that is not in the interest of it. Our growing family of volunteers and supporters is a great testament to that. lostintranslation, Peterjty, superflawless and 1 other 2 2 Quote

The last one at AFA told me that they need to do appointment with a doctor if tested positive! Quote

We go through audits and our protocols are considered to be one of the best, so we will continue to maintain that and provide more training where necessary. Quote

Guest hiv Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 My bf is a foreigner, when he was diagnosed at afa, the counsellor advised if he had someone to call to come get him as he was pretty emotional with the news. I think the counsellor met too many cases where the first question I asked about the testing was can he be re-tested, which a roll-eyed moment followed and a mention that the test is accurate. Also at the state of emotional instability, information was requested by afa and was received which resulted in a boot of my bf out of this country within days. A loss of job, rental, without time to do a relocation ending with lots of stuff thrown away. On top of the emotional stress. Should there be one thing to remember going to afa, is not to divulge information or get "advice" from afa as the information they provided might not be of your best interest when it comes to sg law. Your HIV won't go away even if you take time to finish the time before your next employment pass expire and you can always choose not to renew when the time comes than have a unerasable record in sg database, with unknown consequences. From AFA website in the event the results tested positive... Your counsellor will explain about and arrange for a confirmatory Western Blot test to be done at a future date. You will be advised to abstain from sexual contact until the results from the confirmation test is ready (around 10 days). You will also be advised of your legal obligation to inform all sexual partner(s)’s about your status and to adopt strictly safer sexual behaviour. An HIV positive guide book: “A Different View Changes Your Life” for a more in depth understanding of HIV/AIDS will be provided. The counsellor will request for your phone number and a name (this can be an alias) to be able to get in touch with you about the confirmation result. Once the confirmation result is ready, the counsellor will provide you with assistance and counselling during the first 6 months of local treatment. When you opt for local treatment, your results and particulars will still remain confidential, but no longer be anonymous. Only your doctor, counsellor and nurse will have access to this information. How did Dr Ler accessed the info on so many patients if only their doctor, counsellor and nurse have access? Erm in SG, your phone number more or less is registered to you? When I went for the anon tests, I declined to have them inform me of the result by phone. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid. Quote

Go and test their system as a foreigner and see if you can last 6 months in SG after being identified under SG law. Quote
