The mistake was simply a Hawking's black hole in the mind of the TS.

Those who cannot watch the movie posted by the TS in their country, here is another version (of low quality) in English:

I started watching "The Mist" and initially I found it interesting.  But it got cheaper and cheaper, until the end became an implausible coincidence in a dumb horror movie.   Hawking would not have watched it for more than ten minutes.

Yah I agree...it's one of the worst unimaginable endings ever. This is what absolute despair and helplessness can drive a person to react. Just so damn sad.

The story is real.  In Singapore, we have heard news that parents killed their own children and then committed suicide in "peace".

The Mist film deviated quite a bit from the book. And the mini series as well, deviated even further.

The book was a commentary on otherworldly forces holding us accountable for our actions.

The film was about consumerism, and choices.

The series was more about the darkness of the human nature.

Interesting premise for each, but the book was the best. Because towards the end, it became a philosophical question.

Will we still open pandora's box, despite knowing what monsters lie within?

Most apocalyptic movies carry the same message.  Nothing new.  Look  at Convit-19,  how some people ill-treated service provide, gone crazy or became "sovereign".

Actually, pandora's box refers to how the army found the technology to create portals into another dimension...lol
