Home Cooked Beef & Veg Stew

some beef cubes, preferably cut from prime beef, not stew cubes...

marinated with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, pepper, herbs and spices if you have... put aside in fridge.

peel a few potatoes, red (purple) onions, carrots, a few garlic. Usually i do 4-6 pcs each. cut into larg chunks.

in a large crocpot (slow cooker) put the carrot and potatoes and onions and garlic. add boiling water to just cover all the veg plus 5mm height more water.

2 cubes of beef soup (those Korr brand things...)

set your crocpot to auto... place beef cubes on top of the veg and cover.

just let the slow cooker cook ... you can go to work and leave it, in this way... and come home to a super nice stew that goes with rice, or noodles.

if you are at home for 5 hours, put in the beef clubes on the 2nd hour, stirring them into the stew... and remove them after 30 minutes... you might want to leave one or two cubes in there throughout, but the rest remove and put on a plate (may be good to cut open to confirm fully or almost cooked)

the rest is same... put the beef back into the stew when you serve. The beef will be super tender and not cooked till become hardened... (save the 2 or 3 pcs you left in the stew to add to the stock...)

going to work, and leaving it to slow cook for the day, at auto setting, the cooker will go from high to keep warm in 4 hours... leaving your beef on top of the stew shud keep them tasty.

just experiment a bit here and there la... it's a very simple single man or even household dish... little preparation, big taste... those like beef just add more.

DO NOT put green stuff in the pot to cook, all will become yellow or brown... dun spoil the dish. If you insist, brocolli can be added into the stew 2 - 5 minutes before you serve. do watch the colour... if it yellows and browns... it's a waste...

enjoy your meal :)
