Problem with Dark Nipple

A friend of mine recently complains to me that his nipple is getter darker (as in dark brown). He ask me if there is any products on the market that can reduce it and if possible lighten it?

 

Did a search on the net and found out that there is this "nipple lightening cream", claim that can turn your nipple "pink". Now got me interested. Do any of you guys know where to get this kind of product in Singapore? Kind of interesting to see my own nipple turns "Pink". Wonder what my boy boy will react if he see my nipple in "Pink". Haha :oops:

Err....you mentioned your bf got dark nipple,  but concluded that it is you who have dark nipple and needed the cream most.  So, who got dark nipple, you or your boy boy?

It can become dark just by self-playing to induce maximum blood circulation around that area.  Just like, sending an electricity wave regulary to an iron ball and it soon build up the rust and no longer look "virgin".

You mean even i use my fingers to fondle with my own nipples, it  would become darker over time?

Yes!!  no harm trying.  Even if it won't turn dark on you, at least you feel shiok!!  Be warned, what follows, is even more interesting, you will notice more hairs growing around it.

Have you ever wondered why your genitals are darker than the rest of your body?

 

Regardless of race, a person's penis and nipples, areolas and labia are naturally a shade or two deeper in color than their skin.

And the reason? Darkening occurs during puberty, experts told Daily Mail Online.

 

As sex hormones surge through the body they stimulate the production of melanin - the amino acid responsible for hair and skin color.

 

The result is for the skin on a man's penis and nipples and a woman's areolas and labia, to darken.

 

While the process is a natural one, experts warn, any further darkening in adulthood could be a sign of the chronic illness, diabetes. 

Dr Lindsey Bordone, a dermatologist at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, told Daily Mail Online: ‘Your skin can darken in certain areas when your sugars are very high – and you’re developing diabetes.’

 

It's common for men and women to have genitals and nipples that are darker than the rest of their skin, experts reveal. The change in pigmentation largely occur because sex hormones stimulate production of melanin during puberty In childhood a person generally has lighter pigmentation all over – regardless of race. For instance, some people are born with blonde hair that later turns brown. Dr Bordone said: ‘When girls are young, their nipples are light. And as they get older, hormones have an effect and the nipples darken. ‘It’s very similar for boys.’

 

But, when puberty kicks in, women experience an increase in estrogen, while men experience an influx of testosterone.

Those hormones regulate melanocytes – which are skin cells that produce melanin, said Dr Cameron Rokhsar, an associate clinical professor of dermatology at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Dr Rokhsar told Daily Mail Online: ‘Hormones regulate the way melanocytes produce their pigment. ‘Those can have an effect on the way the skin in that area pigments, so generally that area is darker.’ Hormones can also affect pigmentation in adulthood, especially in women. When a woman is pregnant – or goes on birth control pills – she can experience heightened levels of estrogen. That increase in hormones can cause pigmentation in a woman's face. Dr Rokhsar added: ‘In pregnancy, women can also develop a dark line on their abdomen.’ Furthermore, external factors – especially friction – can affect pigmentation after puberty. When the skin experiences friction, it naturally thickens to protect itself, she explained.

 

Skin darkening can also occur because of friction, for the skin naturally thickens to protect itself. But, darkening can also be a sign of health problems, such as diabetes and obesity 

And so, genital darkening occurs in men who wear tight clothing, shave their genitals or experience an itch or infection that results in rubbing and scratching.

 

This darkening can particularly affect athletes, because their genital area undergoes constant friction from running or jumping.

 

Dr Bordone said: ‘Around the sides of the scrotum or the inner thighs, a lot of times men will have darkening of the skin if they’re active.’ But even though darkening is natural, it can also be a symptom of larger health issues. When a person gains weight, he or she can experience acanthosis nigricans, which is a skin condition that leads to velvety discolorations in the groin and other areas, according to Dr Rokhsar. Additionally, certain discolorations are indicative of increased levels of insulin. Dr Bordone said: ‘If someone notices darkening in some areas they should get checked out – especially if it’s in the neck or armpits, because it can be a sign of diabetes.’

Why Are Genitals Darker Than Other Body Parts?

 

Could it just be the way God created it? Regardless of one’s skin colour or ethnicity, it has been observed that the human genitals, the male penis, female vulva, nipples and the areola, are darker in colour than other parts of the skin. This can be explained by:

1. Hormones

2. Friction

 

Why do hormones cause darkening of our genitals?

If you look at the nipples of a woman who has been pregnant and given birth, you would notice that they are much darker than in a woman who has never been pregnant.

This is because during pregnancy melanin (colour pigment) accumulates in tissues like the nipple in response to an increased levels of estrogen on the body. This colour NEVER returns back to its original after pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 

At puberty, sex hormones tend to increase in the body. That causes an increase in melanin making the penis, nipples, areolas and labia to darken respectively being the sex organs.

Why does friction cause darkening of the genitals?

 

When the skin experiences friction, it naturally thickens to protect itself. This is called keratinization. Keratinization is part of the physical barrier formation, in which the keratinocytes (keratin containing cells) produce more and more keratin and they go through process of maturation as they move higher up into the top most layer of the skin. Once fully matured, this layer will shed and peel and will be replaced by layers beneath it.

 

Keratinocytes not only contain keratin which produces the hardening effect, but they also contain melanin.

How in the world did the melanin from melanocytes get into a keratinocyte?

 

Well melanocytes make these little pockets of melanin containing balls, called melanosome which are then transferred into the keratinocytes.

You might ask..whatever for does that happen?

 

The melanosome then park themselves on top of the vital DNA containing nucleus in the keratinocytes. Its sole purpose is protect the DNA from disastrous mutations caused by harmful UV rays.

 

So in areas where the skin has thickened because of friction, like between the inner thighs, the labia, these are the regions where the skin can look unacceptably darker to you.

With the hairless trend now, many women are regularly shaving or going for Brazilian wax. These hair removal techniques can cause abrasion and ingrown hairs and folliculitis (hair follicle infection) that cause more skin inflammation and increases the production of keratinocytes and hence melanin. You might think these darkened areas reflect poor hygiene or lack of cleaning or scrubbing. Many do not wish to be perceived that why by their sex partners or simply do not like this distinct discolouration of their genitals areas.

 

Can I get rid on these darkened areas?

Yes!! With Chemical Peels and Laser genital skin whitening .

 

Chemical peels serve to literally cause a peel to the top most layer of the skin – peeling away the epidermis with the use of chemical like salicylic acid, lactic acid etc. Chemical peels should only be done by a doctor not a therapist. If not done properly it cause cause burns.

Bear in mind that there are other medical conditions that cause darkening of the skin in these area too.
