ruffx2sg
I had lunch at Ah Seah Eating House at Kovan Center, located near the junction of Yio Chu Kang Road/Upper Serangoon Road. I noted one of the shop houses next to Kovan Centre (1G Yio Chu Kang Road) under renovation and the signage on top of the entrance read "People Like Us Hangout Cafe". I took a picture of the place but could not find a way to post it here. Anyone has any news on this cafe? Guest CoffeeTea
Apparently there are more cafe establishments welcoming the PLU community. In the CBD where I work, there just happened to be two such cafes. The first is located at HLP, call SweetStoneExpress (http://www.sweetstoneexpress.com/Locate/Locate.aspx). Will noticed the mature crowd chilling in the evenings. Way too hot for the afternoons, and not much to see.The other interesting cafe is located along a row of shophouses behinds Hans. It's named Sooma Coffeehouse. (www.soomacoffeehouse.com) Has a full glass frontage facing the main street, with many collar executives chilling and sipping and eyeing for the gorgeous guys to pass by. The staffs are fun, and tey sometimes join in the eyeing too...The food's subjective.... But Sooma spots of a list of dinks choices... check them out. chapapa
Just patronised the cafe during their soft launch. Some comments about the place:Price wise its affordable! Roughly the menu for food does not exceed 8 bucks . Average price about 5 to 6 bucks which is valued for money!I tried the Pawn Salad, its very nice! The thousand island sauce, is self made by the chief! (She told me!) :thumb: There are alot of different drinks to try, ranging from ice blended, to smoothies and coffee & Tea.The ambiance is really cosy, makes me feel very comfortable and there is a wireless@sg signal! Personally I like the Scented candles.Really a great place to chill out and talk... Err yes Hotel 81 is REALLY a stone throw away if you ever need to......Oh btw, they are having a promotion now,30% off all food and drinks (Except happy hour promo)and their happy hour prices are INSANE! (till 8pm!)Will be dropping by again tonight! Would anyone be going?

nicefatboy
Its a mixed crowd (ie male and female) and crowd is like young. If you want to sit upstairs you have to take off shoes. tic-toc
that's okay lah.what is important is delicious food, nice drinks and good company. Not necessary must be 100% PLU. It is just a eating place. We are not going to have sex under the tables or are we? as someone said, the Hotel 81 is just within 50 mt..... If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun. jazz
I think their definition of PLU is unlike our definition of PLU. For the cafe, PLU is about friendships, relationships among people and the hangout café sprang forth from the passion of friends with a similar passion to establish a F&B haven that will be an attractive venue for friends to hang out and chill. And perhaps, even meet new ones!

Not too bad to hang out and foods was not bad , service was ok too. Just a note for ppl bringing ur str8 fren there, might be a bit PLU ... or maybe just my luck to go today. Anyway to the group of guys playing games there , the one in the green (adidas) jkt and bods short , U r cute can;t help taking a few more glance @ u. ha haI decided to make it a point to pay PLUcafe a visit tonight. It is indeed a mixed crowd (a rowdy one and the teenages were kinda Beng/ Lian). As a matter of fact, I reckon I could be the only gay guy down there. The place is small but extremely cosy --- the soft lighting and cushions galore. There's a Pyjamas themed party tonight and the staff were really spontaneous as they wore actual pyjamas. Quite a cute sight I must say Given the distance from my place and the fact that I'm not that comfy with the crowd PLUcafe has seemingly attracted (for tonight), it would be quite unlikely for me to drop by again. That is, unless I go with a group of friends perhaps. I'm more for Garden Slug I suppose though it's not as cosy as PLUcafe.P.S. I like PLUcafe's Honeysuckle and Wolfberry tea
Guest thatwasrunie
as a dedicated alcoholic, i visited that place.very home kinda feeling with the cushions and all.my close friend felt miserable as when a hot guy finally leans near her and smiles at her, she realises he's gay. the finger food is quite nice.love the calamari rings and garlic bread.avoid the pina colada

They close at 7pm, and wish they operate longer hours. And yes, the staff are fun, and one of them even made it the poster boy for AFA's latest Simply Beautiful campaign. Guest Disapoointed
Went to try the cafe with my friends but was disappointed with the food. Ambience was cosy at the place but closer looks you can see that it is not well maintained and dirty after just opened not long ago. Food was ordinary and costly. Drink menu look good but are just lame mixtures that don't cost that much. Wonder how long this will last with such standard.

Food's great, drinks passable but more importantly, the owners are very friendly. It's not exactly a pure PLU crowd but the ambience is good with the occassional cuties. Guest Nicolesingslave
A few of our groups have made PLU Cafe our meeting point. The food is great and reasonably priced. PictureHouse
is this PLU Cafe just next to RHB Bank (adjacent to KOVAN Centre)?Well, if thats the one you all are toking, then I must say this cafe is so happening. No one would expect such cafes to be in Kovan area. Was pasign by to eat the nice Mee Soto at Kovan Centre food court when I saw a team of NTU dragonboaters hugging and licking each other in the cafe. The place is sooo packed and there are literally no place to seat. The dragon boaters makes me realise that even str8 guys are not actually 10o% str8. .
