The Government under the US military presence in Afghanistan has been an Islamic Government. The Republic has been named Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Also the current laws (prior of the enactment of any potential new harsher Taliban - Shariah laws), the Penal code of Afghanistan provided for the punishment of gay sex with the death penalty. Rural parts have always been practising a version of Shariah law and honour killings on gays. Yes, the US presence may have prevented the Afghan government to enforce any criminal laws against gays. But are we sure on this? Just let's look at Pakistan. They have the same law, but any death penalty against gays have not been seen for more than 25 years. Homosexuality in Afghanistan was never decriminalised and gays living under harsh conditions. However, I don't see how we can come with a Western standpoint to the issue such discussions like in above video are deceptive. It is a different culture, it is a Muslim country. We just have to accept this. Yes, we are all against these discriminations and surely against stone age type of killings of homosexuals. But 20 years of military presence of the US have not changed the attitude and local laws towards gays. As long as these countries do not separate religion from from criminal law, it will be difficult. Any change must come from the Afghan people. We can have a Western style outcry but will fall on deaf ears with the governments in these countries. We can condemn the harsh treatment of gays in Afghanistan but in the near future we won't change anything.

Those ignorant Stone Age Barbarians need to look at a current calendar and get some education! We are living in the year 2021 – not 1021 – and long past time to bring their minds into the modern century! The Taliban, ISIS, and any other closed-minded liars who love distorting the peaceful teachings of Islam need to wake up and start moving their poor societies into a future that works to advance all of humanity! Meekly accepting malicious oppression is for puny weaklings!
