Those male characters, Alex and Louis, are brothers who both got extremely drunk after work which led to their female colleague (older brother Alex's right hand woman at the company) checking them into a hotel to sleep off their intoxication. I rank "Tanglin" and "Lion Mums" as better overall series than "Kin" and in my limited viewings of "Kin" I mostly paid attention to the actors who were previously on "Tanglin" (Charlie Goh played lovable goofball Eddie on "Tanglin" and dedicated policeman Matthew on "Kin" while Hatta Said played divorced dad Wafiq on "Tanglin" and cheating husband Zaryn on "Kin"). The spinoff miniseries that detailed the backstory of how Matthew became a policeman also turned out to be quite watchable in my opinion. I like Carla Dunareanu's portrayal of "right hand woman" Ananya to a certain extent as well, along with Rachel Wan's over-the-top ah lian attitude as Yoke before she was forced to move in with the Shelley family when the baby switch was discovered, but the rest of the storylines never did anything to really hook me into the series. You guys are probably right that "Kin" is better than most of the fare on Channel 8, but that's not really saying much, and both stations have room for improvement in their lineups. I think maybe since the main family's name in "Kin" is Shelley, you might have confused the character James Shelley with the professional wrestler Alex Shelley, which is just as well because the guys lusting after Jason Godfrey in the posts above likely won't find many shirtless pictures of the Mediacorp actor floating around (not sure) but the internet has plenty of images with the American sports entertainer without a shirt and sometimes without much clothing of any type, which is neither here nor there. The character Deanna who gave the cup of coffee to Ananya has been dead for a long time already. Misleading description of the hotel bed scene, and anyway, the hotel bed scene took place three years ago. Completely asinine behavior!
