Thanks @sphere. And yeah, since I've already used my NS credits, 18 months would be more worthwhile in my case despite the TPY exclusive for 12 months:

12 months

$50 x 12 / 14 = $42.86/month

18 months

$45 x 18 / 20 = $40.50/month

Don't mentioned it, I needed to renew my subscription eh, just sharing the findings after it reopened - to see which is the good/best deal for us, haha.

Yup, @psarthmei in your case, 18 months renewal is better!

[hopefully more better deals next year, or more 'credits' coming along too, haha]

Happy - is what we should be, always.

Post-renewal thoughts

The process for 12 months renewal with the use of full $200 NS credits was a breeze, the new expiry date was shown pretty much instantly in the Safra app.

However, I just learnt that there is a 2-year cap at the membership - "members may renew their gym membership for a maximum tenure of two years" (can be found in their renewal page - here, which I didn't notice).  Even if I wanted to renew the 18 months promotion, it was not possible because my membership still has about 9 more months to expiry, so adding 18 months would exceed 2 years. Like that if next time the 18 months promotion is a better deal, I might miss it due to this new condition... *sigh*

They already had an existing condition that "Safra membership validity period must exceed EnergyOne membership period", now they added one more. I remembered there was once my expiry was beyond 2 years later, oh well...

[just for information]

Was there something special for last year's Aug's promotion?

I vaguely remembered it was just that you could use your NS credits and their promotion has been 'the same' (here) for the last 1-2 years already eh.

Have you signed up for the gym membership?

Or you're waiting till National Day month, hoping for a better promotion? Haha.

[I don't remember there was any special deal for National Day promotion last year, correct me if I'm wrong, haha]

This Toa Payoh Reopening Exclusive deal means you can only utilize the Toa Payoh Energy One gym, am I correct?

Yes, if you refer to my previous post (here), the fourth line in the attached image stated "... at EnergyOne Toa Payoh only."

hmm i understood it as the extra month promotion is only available for signups at TPY. it doesnt restrict u from using the other gyms when u become a member. unless u join the single club category of membership, if theres such a thing.

Hmmm i think that might be the previous model of single outlet membership. I think now there's the platinum one where most people are under, and a 1 time entry i believe?

I don't think there is a single club membership, like @Dashy_Boy mentioned, the other option is per entry, or Term membership, which allows you to go to any E1 gym.

I was answering the other member's question on the promotion, not on the use of the gym eh, haha.

Hey @sphere I haven’t signed yet but considering. I saw for new Term membership signup, the current promo is 50% on admin charge, ie. 110 SGD admin fee instead of 220. I wonder if I can stack this up with TPY reopen promo, ie. to get 1 month free.

If I can’t stack them, the 50% admin fee is a better deal then.

you want to refer me to earn one more month?

For all qns on membership promos etc, best to just ask E1 directly rather than ask here and get different answers which may not be correct. EVEN if you get the answers here, still best to just check back with official source ie E1 after that. As a general rule of thumb for any forum, let’s not assume info given by anyone is accurate.

Anyways have been seeing quite abit of new faces on the gym floor at SAFRA tpy... haha anybody has any reviews on its new booty corner? haha

Seems like the corner is not very well-utilised. Those who are familiar with the space previously still use it, but with the free weights and benches. I had no idea what booty corner meant until I googled it. Although it's meant to be unisex, I foresee it attracting more female users for the 'booty' dept.  The problem I see is the instructions on how to use the eqpt, which can be quite intimidating, as they are non-conventional, and resemble torture devices (think chains and belts). The instructions (if any) are super tiny and stuck somewhere on machine if you can find it. Ended up searching youtube videos on usage instructions.

I am honestly quite disappointed with the recent revamp of both MF and TPY E1.

The equipment on some floors might be new, but they are not of the best quality. Try hanging from a chin up bar, or doing assisted dips and pull-ups.  The handles are steel-hard and un-padded, unlike a lot of the LifeFitness eqpt we have come to know at other commercial gyms and ActiveSG gyms. Likewise the various new weight machines - no padding for the handgrips and very uncomfortable to use. Some of them are older models that have less than desirable ergonomics.

Almost all the cardio eqpt are old... i.e. no NFC to automatically connect to our trackers and watches to log our workouts.

haha what i thought exactly...

I think just take it as a gym at a basic level? Just that they have added some club facilities perks to it. Haha, will definitely be nice if they have more feature. Not a compliant, but maybe a feedback for future

Club provided by SAFRA at subsidised rate. Happy with the range of equipment they have already.
