Guest Mikeym321
I would like to have my mom vaccinated to prevent shingle outbreak when she visits Singapore. I’ve been searching online if Shingrix is available in Singapore. All I found is zostavax. Can anyone confirm whether Shingrix is available or not? Steve5380
Shingrix has been in short supply lately. But it is worth waiting for it, since it is so superior to the old zostavax. Where does your mom live? Can she get the first dose of the vaccine before she leaves for Singapore? Thereafter, she can wait up to six months for the second dose. Guest Mikeym321
She is visiting from Thailand, so it’s not a big of a deal to fly in again for second dose. But, there seems to be lack of information on Shingrix whether it’s already approved in Singapore or not.
Steve5380
Shingrix may not yet be available in Thailand either. But if your mom is a person who is relaxed, doesn't get upset easily and has a strong immune system she may be able to wait a long time without the vaccine. Shingles are triggered by stress that weakens the immune system. I waited many years for this Shingrix (the other one is so ineffective for old folks like me) and I got it well into my 70s. I never have had shingles.

It is not the approval of the SG government (why would it not approve it?) There is a worldwide shortage of Shingrix. One reads that this shortage will persist throughout 2019. If your mom is at risk, you may consider have her take the Zostavax vaccine. Otherwise, just wait a while.
dazza1201
Not approved for use in Singapore. I went for shingles vaccination today, and doc and I checked - not available in Singapore, Malaysia nor Thailand.
CirqueduSoleil
I wish to have my parents vaccinated against Shingles. 🙂 I did lots of research about Shingrix, it is the most "in" vaccination. Zostavax is way too outdated and not effective as Shingrix. I just called up NSC, SATA and a few clinics to enquire about Shingrix. Up till now (September 2020), Shingrix is still not available in Singapore! Ministry of Health is sleeping.

The main side effect is soreness in the arm that received it, and side effects go away after 3, 4 days. I got the vaccine two years ago and I never had any side effects. Guest Wtf
Yesterday i started to have rashes. Now it is all over my body and itchy. Each like a bubble wrap and has water in it. Mom said it is shingles and would be gone in few days. I think I got this from someone I met in sauna. Can I just use any cream to heal it? doncoin
Shingles are a variant of the chicken pox virus. It usually lies dormant within us until events like stress or some hormonal change can cause it to surface. Quote Love.
Guest Shingles
Go see a doctor ASAP to see if can still get a shingles jab. The lingering pain of shingles can be terrible and long lasting.
Guest Guest
And please urgently make a HIV test. In young people, shingles typically develops under immune deficiency.
Guest Don’t Confuse
Shingles can be dangerous for your eyesight if you get it on your forehead. The vaccine lasts about 10 years. Although it tends to affect older people, talk to your doctor about getting the vaccine earlier. You do not want to get shingles.
Guest Guest
Once you had chickenpox, usually as a child, the virus remains forever dormant in your body. When your immune system gets weakened, because of old age or HIV, the virus is reactivated as shingles. The vaccination is useless if you have had chickenpox before. To be totally safe from shingles, is to not get chicken pox anytime in your life, which is quite impossible, unless you.got the chicken pox vaccine in your childhood . The next best is to get Zovirax or Shingrix vaccine when you are around 45 years old, renew vaccine every 3 to 5 years. Shingles is worse pain than.giving birth, some said. And the pain can be lifelong after getting it the first time. Shit to Shingles.
