Most of us take hongbao in our stride, no doubt grateful for cash gifts that can range from $100 to thousands of dollars in some cases. But what if you opened your red packet and found $1 million?

Well, that is just what happened at a wedding here when the groom's father handed over a red packet containing a $1 million cheque when the newlyweds paid their respects to their parents during the customary tea ceremony.

I read that report in today's Sunday Times.

The guy's father meant the money for the guy only. But the greedy wife coveted the money, even though (check this out!) the wife was already given the following:

1) a $270,000 BMW by the guy's dad

2) $20,000 worth of jewellery during the tea ceremony

3) $100,000 worth of jewellery from the guy himself

She is a dentist, by the way, so on her own, she is not poor.

Shows that the greed of women can never be satisfied.

Aiyoh, I wonder if this is a test by the groom's father for the daughter in law.

If she fights over 1 million, maybe the groom will be able to really she her in the light of truth, and may want to divorce her quickly.

It would have been better if they had never married, rather than he marry the greedy woman, test her, and then divorce her.

Anyway, it wasn't a test from the groom's father, but rather an oversight on his part, because he did not expect her to claim that money.

Other women in her situation would have just accepted the husband's decision to keep the money, but this greedy bitch "die-die" must have a share in the $1m, even divorcing the guy and making her young son go through the trauma of having to grow up in a broken family, all because of the wedding ang pow. Shame on her.

Not a good example she is setting for her young son there.

The moral of the story is that the dad should have given the money to the son privately.

The fact that he gave it to the couple during the tea ceremony gives the greedy wife a stake in the claim of the share.

When it comes to women and money, they are never satisfied.
