I'm decluttering. Where to sell books in bulk other than online?

A long time ago, I sold some old books at Bra Basah Complex. 

I don't know if they still pay for old books or not. 

The money I received for the books was not much, but money is still money, and not much is a lot more than zero.

What kind of book?  Not all books have market.  You may ended up donating instead.

If you’re willing you can list them for free on Carousell and have the person who wants them arrange for their own pick up. That’s how I got rid of a lot of old books.

LOL!  Remember the days of the telephone books,  the dictionaries,  the thesaurus, the... huge encyclopedias?   We are now living in what used to be " times of the future " 

 

Today we can get most books in electronic form.  I don't know about SG, but here in the US we can access e-books from public libraries.  And of course, buy the e-books.

 

I recently threw away a bunch of obsolete books about computer programs.  I am also throwing away all my books about programming languages.  Software writing was part of my work,  but now retired,  I'm not planning to write a single line of code anymore.  The only books I preserve are the rare ones, and the technical books and materials I used in my dissertation.

[Guest Second Hand Bookshop]

At one second hand bookshop in Bras Bash Complex, the Chinese couple flew into a rage when I asked if their second hand bookshop still bought books. Guess their business is bad.

 

The Indian bookshop paid a few cents per book but still expect good comdition.

 

I'll rather give away then sell to rude toads.

 

Managed to sell some on Carousell for a decent price.  But the buyers are my age who grew up with books.

I donate to library.  They have a bookshelves placed outside the branch and I dumped my books there.  Sometime, got children and adult went there to pick the  book for free.

I have a ton of books and I mean really a ton! to give away.. Including audio and video material. I know I do so on Carousel but my location is not convenient for people to drop by. Moreover, I prefer to deal with only one person to can collect the bulk of it, if not all.

Outside Bishan Library facing CPF building.  A huge huge open wooden bookshelves outside,  you can arranged your unwanted books there anytime of the day 24 hours 7 days a week. Sometime people go there to read, search, took the book home.  People who loves your book will give them a new home.  No point trying to sell if you try to declutter.  Do some kind deed to give them away.
