With such an outrageous policy in place, it shows that the management is INCOMPETENT, choosing to piss customers off juz to preserve some internal peace. I remember at Shuang, Elvin broke the rule and came out to smile at me. I have been smitten ever since! If not for his shameless act, castigated by all no doubt, I wouldnt have discovered him. Incidentally, Shuang's manager Kai is surliness personified. That they should have such a rule in place is rich! Of course, Ivan would declare 我们不是卖笑的。But it's the 笑 dat sells everything, duh! It may seem counter-intuitive but, apparently from marketing research, snootiness on the part of the sales person sells better than friendliness, especially when it comes to high-value (read expensive) luxury items! Oh yeah, I remember when Edison was panned for his snootiness, legions of his fans, grateful to be beneficiaries of his condescending patronage, rose to his defence.
