Advice on hooking up MacBook to dual monitor displays

Recommended Posts

Hi, would like to seek advice from experts here on what I would need (correct types of adapter) to hook up my MacBook Pro to two separate monitors.  All advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

Would be helpful if we know more details about your MacBook Pro like which year is it from? Is it Intel based or Mac Silicon? This will allow us to better advise.

Two MacBook Pro to decide which would be more suited to hook up to the dual display monitors (Apple Studio Display 27").

1.  MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2015), MacOS Monterey 12.7.4, Processor 3.1GHz Dual Core Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB DDR3, Graphics Intel Iris Graphics 6100.

2.  MacBook Pro 14" (2021), MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1, Apple M1 Pro, Memory 16GB.

Thanks for your inputs!

The Apple Studio Display is a 5K monitor.

MacBook Pro 13" support up to 4K resolution at 30Hz (via HDMI/Thunderbolt) only if I'm not wrong.

If you're looking to drive the Apple Display, I think it's better to go for the MacBook Pro 14". But bear in mind, HDMI goes up to 4K resolution at 60Hz. So, you may need to use Thunderbolt for up to 6K resolution at 60Hz.

Lastly, this is my understanding, so there could be mistakes.
