+ the very handsome Yuke Songpaisan

A tale of love and ideals unfolds in an era resistant to diversity set against the backdrop of the political turmoil of 1969-1971. Trin (Apo), a principled economist, collides with Thanwa (Mile), a free-spirited hippie. When they encounter Moira, an extravagant widow who lives far beyond the boundaries of freedom, their lives take an unpredictable turn.

Director Pond says this is not a BL series, but a gay one, and the gayest in the history of Thai serial dramas.

First episode now on WeTV - https://wetv.vip/en/play/gd27j376hxjbilg/p4100aa7ntn-Shine_|_WeTV_Original

Looks big budget (unlike 99% of Thai BL released every other day).

MileApo is quite good in KinnPorsche, but less so in Man Suang.

Hope it's good and hot!

But we must be thankful for these BL content

They help to shift public opinion on love and acceptance, especially in less developed societies

Agree to a certain extent, but most fans of BL are women and gays. Only a few BLs managed to break onto the wider stage.

Ask any of your straight friends if they watch BL, or can name one.

Anyway, just watched episode 1. Quite good and suitably complex (confusing?), refreshingly free of the usual BL tropes, fingers crossed.

The prospective second couple is more interesting to me lol. Hope it will get better, not worse.

Oh, and the song Far Side of the Moon is really good, esp. during the ending scene of Epi 1.

Some of these series were/are aired on national tv, such as Last Twilight and Memoir of Rati

When uncles and aunties travelling in Thailand happen to watch these content on TV, and whilst they may not understand the language, might continue to watch for the good looks of the lead actors

They return home and tell their kids/friends about it, and soon the whole family will be watching Memoir of Rati on netflix or from an android streaming box

Slowly but surely, people will learn to be free to accept love as love, and not be trapped in one mindset

Epi 2 is good too, esp the last scene 😉

At the moment, the second couple is far more interesting than the main couple.

But what it lacks is an overaching plotline, a mystery or question that make us curious and hooked right from Epi 1.

The kdramas do this with aplomb, though their answer at the end might not be to our satisfaction.

Wow epi 3 is really good. The back and forth in the library, and then the make out 🥰

I really hope they can keep this up until the end, don't stray into nonsense like many Thai BLs (looking at you KinnPorsche 🙄).

This is easily the highest quality Thai "BL" I have ever seen, the budget must be huge.

Mile getting less hot though. Sometimes i preferred watching productions nit from gmmtv, because more wild sex scences.

gmmtv is using content to market idols and then milk the fans through merch, fanmeets and brands through events and endorsements

highly lucrative

Producing top quality content is not their focus because content itself, no matter how best you license it out, won't make a lot of money

the strategy is very different

but still we have a lot to be thankful for, just the sheer variety of BL content from various Thai production companies, is enough to keep us entertained for a long while
