Balestier Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Beware of SPAM call from NTUC UNIONPAY. Very persistent guy. Keeps calling and wants you to talk to his partner to cancel a insurance which we never sign. His partner will need you to transfer some money to cancel it. Be careful. Ignatius93 1 Quote
Levis Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 I, too, experienced this sometime in March/April 2025. I honestly thought it was real until I asked for their UnionPay number on their website which the scammer couldn't properly point me to it. They will also keep asking you to message them over a WhatsApp number to provide your details to their "AI Bot" to assist you to cancel the insurance (which obviously you didn't ordered). The intent is to make you do screen-sharing and manipulate you to transfer $ to them. They will also keep "referring" you to other "department's colleagues" to give you the illusion that they are trying to help you resolve the issue. T Gunner Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Yes my friend had similar experience from UNIONPAY. As long as… 1) Claim there’s a problem with your account, parcel, or personal data 2)Pressure you to provide personal details, OTPs, or bank information 3)Threaten legal action or account suspension if you don’t comply immediately Remember: If it’s urgent, it’s likely scam. Ya the insurance will expire on that day. Quote

A giveaway is there is no NTUC UNIONPAY here and UNIONPAY is like VISA or MASTERCARD in CHINA Quote
Kimochi Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Please careful of online scams / any scams which involve you to reveal your bank account / credit Card particulars. Nowadays even carousell have people try to scam you. AlifBttm 1 Quote
Levis Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Oh yes. In the scamming process, they kept pressing me to send the message to the WhatsApp AI Bot and saying if I didn't do so, they will be deducting the premium at xx hour. An important point I learned is that no bank is able to allow such deduction via GIRO / bank transfer unless you have prior submitted such an authorisation instruction (via some kind of GIRO authorisation) before. The key loophole is credit card. If they have your card nos, other details (incl. CVV) and you suspect they may have, quickly go and report your bank to defunct it. Hope this helps potential victims.
