radiusulnar Posted September 27, 2025 Posted September 27, 2025 My dominant arm is always lagging behind my non-dominant arm. Any strategies to adopt to get it to catch up? I'm already doing single arm work to avoid the bigger arm from unintentionally helping. Quote
swimboi Posted September 27, 2025 Posted September 27, 2025 That's interesting. Usually the non-dominant arm is the one that is lagging behind. I had to deal with this issue when I had an injury on my left arm. The physio then recommended doing bilateral exercises while letting the left arm lead or determine the limit. It's a lot of mind/muscle connection involved, so I had to be very intentional while doing the exercises. Recently when I engaged for PT, they started recommending unilateral movements too. Since my goal was to have equal strength on both sides, I was recommended to max the weights based on my left side. At first it felt too light on the right, but with better mind/muscle connection and intention, I still manage to get a good pump on my right even though it's not at max weight. Quote

Will let the weaker side determine the weight and reps. Hopefully once catch up both sides can progress together. Quote
