How desperate are you to get 6/8-packs abs?

Saw an interesting piece of news on this matter (see below) - I think for that kind of money spent, a good Personal Trainer (for 10 to 20 sessions), together with discipline and determination (plus a healthy diet) should suffice, and it wouldn't cost as much too.

Additionally, there could be side effects when he gets older later on, and it kind of looked 'unreal' in some pictures... but what can we say if he 'is loving it' eh, haha. What do you think?

Influencer in China spends S$730K to get 8-pack abs using hyaluronic acid injections

8-pack abs injections

He has paid RMB 4 million (S$730,000) to get 40 doses of hyaluronic acid and plans to get a total of 10,000 injections.

Influencer spends S$730,000 to get 8-pack abs using injections

An influencer in China has gone viral after claiming he spent 4 million yuan (S$730,000) to get eight-pack abs and defined muscles in other areas using hyaluronic acid injections.

In particular, the amount went into getting 40 doses of the acid injected into his shoulders, collarbones, chest and abdomen.

Andy Hao Tienan, who creates beauty and fashion content on social media, also says he is the first to do such a thing in China.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Mr Hao’s social media profile states that 20% of his body contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that lubricates joints and other connective tissues.

In cosmetic surgery, it is common for hyaluronic acid to be used as facial fillers to enhance volume and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For Mr Hao, however, he plans to get 10,000 doses of the acid injected into his body, and is currently at 40% of his goal.

Influencer says he cannot achieve desired physique through exercise

The influencer explained that he resorted to cosmetic enhancements as he was unable to achieve his desired muscular physique through exercise.

“I totally agree that muscles do not grow on cowards,” he said.

“But you have to understand, I have had so many injections. I am no coward any more. Could you dare to do the same?”

Mr Hao proclaimed that if his abs stayed for three years, he will apply for the Guiness World Record of the longest-lasting artificial abs made of hyaluronic acid.

He also promised to “do a live-stream cracking walnuts on my abs for everyone to see”.

In late October, nearly five months after the procedure, Mr Hao expressed that he remains satisfied with the results, saying:

It actually looks more natural and better over time. Even the lines between the abs are still distinct, and they have not merged into a single lump.

Experts warn against using hyaluronic acid for muscle enhancement

However, Li Jialun, an attending doctor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Union Hospital in Wuhan raised concerns over the risks of Mr Hao’s procedure.

“Injecting 40 doses of hyaluronic acid could very likely crush the skin, potentially causing necrosis of blood vessels,” he said.

Dr Li further explained that the artificial muscles may only appear realistic when they are stationary.

However, they will definitely distort when Mr Hao moves.

HK01 also reported that doctors believe hyaluronic acid is more suitable for small-area filling, and using this substance in a large-area may cause deformation.

Furthermore, as a full-body muscle sculpting session requires hundreds of syringes of the substance, the procedure may be more expensive than achieving the desired physique through natural fitness methods.

‘First in China’: man splurges US$560,000 on hyaluronic acid shots to create 8-pack abs

Fashion and beauty content creator plans to inject his body 10,000 times with substance; medical expert warns of health risks

A Chinese man has caused shock by claiming he spent four million yuan (US$560,000) on acid injections to give himself artificial eight-pack abs.

The man, who uses the name Andy Hao Tienan on social media, claims his artificially induced stomach muscles have made him “the first such case in China”.

From Heilongjiang province in northeastern China, Hao has about 100,000 followers online. He is primarily known for sharing beauty and fashion content.

His profile claims that 20 per cent of his body contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that helps lubricate joints and retain moisture.

He plans to inject a total of 10,000 doses and has already completed 40 per cent of his goal.

A few months ago, Hao made headlines for spending four million yuan to inject 40 doses of the acid into his shoulders, collarbones, chest and abdomen.

The injections have helped sculpt artificial abs. Details of the procedure have not been disclosed.

Hao says that he turned to cosmetic enhancements because he could not achieve an ideal muscular physique through exercise.

“I totally agree that muscles do not grow on cowards,” he said.

“But you have to understand, I have had so many injections. I am no coward any more. Could you dare to do the same?

“If my abs have not disappeared in three years, I will apply to Guinness for the longest-lasting artificial abs made of hyaluronic acid record. I will do a live-stream cracking walnuts on my abs for everyone to see.”

In a video posted in late October, nearly five months after the procedure, he expressed continued satisfaction with the results.

“You never get any muscle swelling, it is just how I like it. A lot of people say the hyaluronic acid will dissolve in a few months, and doctors say it might shift or clump together,” said Hao.

“It actually looks more natural and better over time. Even the lines between the abs are still distinct, and they have not merged into a single lump.”

Li Jialun is an attending doctor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hebei province, central China.

Li also has more than 1.7 million followers on a social media platform and has raised concerns that Hao’s actions could be a risk to his health.

“Injecting 40 doses of hyaluronic acid could very likely crush the skin, potentially causing necrosis of blood vessels,” said Li.

“Secondly, while the muscles may appear realistic in a static state, the dynamic appearance will definitely be distorted because all muscles are dynamic units.

“Third, after the injection, your natural muscles may actually decrease because hyaluronic acid and fillers can erode bone and exert pressure on the muscles, making them thinner.

“When the filler dissolves, your original muscles may look even weaker. And fourth, displacement is a very likely side effect,” Li added.

Hao has also sparked a heated discussion on mainland social media.

One person said: “Oh my god, is this really how rich people spend their money? Four million could buy me a lifetime supply of protein powder to build my muscle.”

Another online observer joked: “You would need to walk around shirtless every day to show it off, or the four million would be wasted.”

No, cannot accept such.

I jog 5km 3 days weekly and static exercises alternate 3 days weekly for non jogging days, unless bad weather or raining.

Pretty like the feeling of drenched in sweat and feel good.

Prefer to seek health rather than artificial vanity ?

"When the filler dissolves, your original muscles may look even weaker. And fourth, displacement is a very likely side effect,” Li added.

May as well inject something safe and forever will not dissolves?

Silicon just like ladies or trans do for their assets ?

Fillers are not permanent. They do dissolve over time. So to maintain his fake-packs, he has to get them inject regularly. Furthermore, there is also the risk of migration. Fillers have been FDA cleared for the face, but definitely not for the abs. There are other solutions that can help achieve that 6-pack, namely excercise, and enhance with EmSculpt or something similar.

Love.

I have genuine soft spot for  natural tummy flatness, not 6 7 8 or 10 packs abs which look extremely unnatural and alien-like. When you are healthy, you are healthy, no need to take drugs, undergo surgery or put yourself on pressure steroid and injure other part of your organs especially kidney and liver.

I feel like abs look pretty natural but that’s just my perspective. I’ve never taken any of those ‘drugs’ you speak of, underwent any surgery nor have I ever done any steroids and I’m fairly healthy I would say, so I don’t think it’s fair to equate ‘abs’ with all of those things because plenty of people have abs without doing whatever weird stuff these Chinese people are doing.

about the original post: man, that is so sad. You could literally just work out and have a bit of discipline but I guess if you have too much money you spend it on really stupid stuff.

I mean people with "abs" does not prove they are strong.  My ex-colleague has "abs" but his arm is quite skinny and I wonder if he was able to lift something heavy.   I ended up asking someone more stocky (without abs) to help with heavy chores.   Besides,  I am into look rather than "abs".  The above guy didn't pass the test on manly look .

Haha yeah everyone is entitled to their own preferences! I’m not super picky about abs but I know a lot of people (especially gay guys) absolutely love abs, I do agree in that I would prefer a stronger and ‘fuller’ physique. Skinny and abs doesn’t look amazing to me but I don’t judge and everyone’s on their own paths.

also, you’re not wrong - abs =/= strength.

Anyone can have "abs", but the reality is, a lot of people are not willing to put in the hard work and discipline to get them. Those who have abs are either naturally skinny and not very physically strong, and those guys who workout, but more importantly, watch their diet. Anyone who has earned their abs will tell you that abs are earned in the kitchen. I used to be one of those guys who worked out like crazy and while I was physically strong, I was never ripped. Now, thanks to intermittent fasting and a healthy diet, I am in the best shape of my life.

I think too many people have decided they just want a quick fix and are not prepared to put in the hard work for it. Plus, who knows what long term damage they will do to themselves.

May I know whats the reason?

Novelty draws excitment to some people.   Don't discount the fact that there are gym goers who work extremely hard to look attractive for their hairy, beer-belly daddy.

Haha, id love to have a set of defined, cut abs but i would settle for flat tummy as well! Getting really tough as I age.

I wouldn't resort to such surgical lengths. I keep thinking it'll cause other medical issues down the line.

Why always those people who have money to do such things. I read some women spend hundreds thousands dollar to do at least 10x surgery. Don't they have level of satisfaction, psychologist didn't work for them.

Natural tummy flatness would usually have at least 4 showing because must be lean to be natural tummy flatness in the first place?

You’re forgetting that abs are still a muscle and if someone has weak abs and 10% BF they may not be that defined if they don’t work their core out.

everyone always thinks just dieting will give you abs, but the ‘strength’ of the abs comes from training them like any other muscle, not just from eating salads with no dressing!
