Whole fruits are ok

Not all fruits are okay.

Ripe bananas are super rich in sugar.

Watermelon are very rich in sugar.

Life is short! Don't wait for the last minute to do what you like to do! Just do it!

How about food? I just want to cut down sugar. So will eating meals like Chicken rice/fried noodles impact the progress if cutting down sugar?  I do not want to simply cut off everything at the start.

Just take the first step to cut sugar out and keep everything else the same. It will already be fewer calories than before.

How about rice? Anyone dont eat rice? Rice also contain glucose sugar right?

Absolutely. Start with your beverages like no canned drinks and juices as a once weekly treat, bubble tea lowest sugar or zero sugar, get coffees from good coffeeshops and dont go for mochas or flavoured drinks.

kopi siewdai or kosong.

Take a little bit less carbs, more vegs.

For kopi/teh, best option is kopi o kosong or teh o kosong :)

Will you be my valentine's? :D

Yes, don't do milk and don't do siew dai anything. Cutting straight to kosong and no milk will help you a ton. If you are still doing BBT, time to cut that crap out of your life. It's expensive and pointless. Stick to just tea with no sugar. White rice, noodles and white bread you avoid as much as you can as well. All that becomes blood sugar and too much carb is not good for weight loss but do not cut carbs out completely. It can cause hair loss, fyi

If you buy “liquid” milk most of them have sugar in it. Powdered milk maybe better. Just read labels. If you eat out often you may be unknowingly consuming a large amount of sugar. Even spicy and savory food. Sugar is often used to cut spiciness or bitterness. So eating at home is still best for controlling all the unwanted stuff - sugar. Salt, oil, etc. but the trade off is time. I lost a lot of weight just cutting sugar and carbs.

Cut 22kg with a calorie deficit and no liquid calories and only drink water, sparkling water and kopi O Kosong Peng for the last 160 days and counting

Eliminating raw sugar isn’t enough because your body turns almost all carbohydrates into glucose during digestion. While starches and refined carbs break down quickly and can cause blood sugar spikes, they aren't all inherently bad.  In fact, everyday meal we eat contain carb.  The real secret is fiber. Whole foods like fruits and vegetables are excellent carbohydrate sources because their high fiber content slows down digestion, preventing sudden glucose spikes.

Yes, cutting off or significantly reducing added sugar can lead to rapid and noticeable changes in both your physical and mental health. While the first few days can be challenging due to cravings and low energy, most people experience major improvements within a few weeks.

  1. Days 1–5 (The Adjustment Phase): You may experience "sugar withdrawal," which can include headaches, fatigue, irritability, and strong cravings. This is normal as your brain adapts to lower dopamine spikes.
  2. Week 2 (The Shift): Cravings begin to fade, energy levels smooth out, and bloating often decreases significantly.
  3. 1 Month and Beyond: Noticeable weight loss, clearer skin, sustained focus, and improved blood markers (such as fasting glucose and triglycerides).

Yes… I’ve lost 30kgs in the past 2 years by lowering and cutting out sugar plus watching what I eat! High protein with diet and exercise is the key!

No leh, after months of cutting down sugar and carb, I look noticeably aged for my age.  Anyway, my body seems to be able to send singal if I over consumed sugary stuff, including Coke zero,  by making my tastebuds feel rather dry and weird,

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, especially after putting in all that effort! You may want to try rebalancing with some body/mental wellness for a holistic and healthier journey. A few things that might help:

- Try to avoid processed food as much as you can, as it tends to take longer to digest and can lead to water retention.

- Up your protein intake too, since it really helps with keeping your skin and body looking healthy and youthful.

- It's also worth managing anxiety and self-induced stress, as that tends to show on our faces more than we realised.

- Drink lots of plain water throughout the day to stay properly hydrated—interesting that your tastebuds give you that dry, weird signal when you've overdone the sugary stuff, even with Coke Zero. That's your body talking!

- Don't underestimate rest—aim for at least 7 hours of sleep a night and avoid staying up late, since that's when your body does most of its repair work.

- One last small tip: avoid holding your bladder for too long, as regular release supports your body's natural detoxification and benefits your overall health in the long run.

Give it some time and consistency, your body should settle into a better rhythm. Take care!
