MeowPrince Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I'm planning for a short trip or two this year-end, end-Oct to mid-Nov time frame. Am looking at a short 5N to 7N trip to either Siem Reap or south Vietnam. It will be a trip for shooting the sights. And I'm looking for a friend to room with and to shoot with. Obviously, we'll share the costs too. It will be largely a budget-travel, though we may fly a full-service airline for Siem Reap if the departure hour is more sane. Exact details are in the planning stage at the moment and I intend to firm most of it up by early/mid-July.Some basic info :-Siem Reap tripDepart SIN Tue, return SIN SunEstimated airfare : S$325 on Silkair. Jetstar may be a little cheaper but had bad departure hours when I used them in 2009.Total cost (excl airfare) : US$320, including accomodation, est at US$15-18/night, twin-sharing.Expect to wake early to catch sunrise or rides on some days. Walking and climbing is to be expected.Places to-visit include Ta Som, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Phimeneakas, Preah Khan and Bantaey Srei, plus a non-touristy ruined temple. Also Kompong Phluck or village oxride may be added. Phnom Koulen is optional, depending on the energy levels of everyone.Cambodia uses US$ as well as their own riels. Prices are almost always quoted in US$. Vietnam trip5N/6N trip depending on groupAirfare most likely on Tiger. Accomodation will all be in budget guesthouses, US$20-28/night twin-sharing in HCMC, US$50-60/night in Mui Ne.Primary purpose is to shoot the sand dunes of Mui Ne. And 5am departure for the dunes is a must! Details of this trip is more fluid, as there may be another 1-2 others coming along to shoot. But the itinerary will be Sin-HCMC, overnight HCMC, next morning bus to Mui Ne, 2 nights in Mui Ne, morning bus back to HCMC, overnight in HCMC, HCMC-Sin. A minimum of 4 nights, with option to extend.Vietnamese dong (VND) is easily changed from US$ or any major currency. Better to pay in VND as it is slightly cheaper for most times.About me :- ChineseSeriously Non-SmokerVery hardcore photographerEats pork/chicken/beef, hates durianAny shutterbug keen?
