The mods will be making some purchase arrangement later and hopefully the chat will be back real soon.3. Please use it well to make friends. This software isn't cheap for us, so use it wisely.4. For members who do NOT wish to be disturbed by the chat, you can set the option NOT to chat.Cheers !

Noticed via the status updates that some enthusiastic guys have noticed and are probably already yakking among themselves.3. Use the chat to Make Friends and keep in contact. Use it responsibly. No harassing or stalking of members.4. For members who do NOT want to be disturbed, you can mark yourself NOT "Available to chat".You can also block some members that you dislike.For persistent stalkers, report them to the mods and we will ban them.5. Tech features, there is normal fb-like on-page chat.There is video chat and also a feature to send files (pics / videos)It also has chat-room features. In future, we may deploy it once in a while to do some group chat of particular topics. Suggest some topics and interesting characters and we see what we can do.6. Post suggestions, problems and bugs of chat here too.Enjoy !PS: We merge the 2 topics on chat.

HendryTan Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 1. I have REMOVED the Chat app on Mobile Skin. After some experimentation myself, I agree the chat is NOT usable on mobile devices.2. Side-effect of this removal. When users are on mobile skin on hand-phones, they will not see your chat messages although they may be shown as online. They will only see your message when they get back to their desktop.3. This Change will effect Android, Blackberry, iPhone users.

Based on concerns of chat causing forum lagging, we had expended effort to tune the computer resources again.3. Today is the first 24 hours of operation since we bought the software. I am happy that the forum seems pretty responsive like prior. The new Chat seems responsive too. Our CPU utilisation is higher but still within healthy range most of the time.4. The chat counter showed approx 4.5K message sent yesterday. Compared with 6K which was the average during the evaluation period. It could be that it is a weekday and most guys have not noticed the chat too.5. Therefore the tsunami of guys yakking messages have not hit us to test our servers yet. Keeping finger crossed and monitoring the servers.Enjoy ! samsara 1
