Guidelines to identify gay and lesbian symptoms published

The Education Ministry (of Malaysia) had endorsed "guidelines" to help parents to identify gay and lesbian "symptoms" in their children so they can take early corrective measurements.

The guidelines list four symptoms each of gays and lesbians:

Symptoms of gays:

• Have a muscular body and like to show their body by wearing V-neck and sleeveless clothes;
  

• Prefer tight and light-coloured clothes;
  

• Attracted to men; and
  

• Like to bring big handbags, similar to those used by women, when hanging out.
  

Symptoms of lesbians:

• Attracted to women;
  

• Besides their female companions, they will distance themselves from other women;
  

• Like to hang out, have meals and sleep in the company of women; and
  

• Have no affection for men.
  

"Once the children have these symptoms, immediate attention should be given," the guidelines warn.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the guidelines published by Yayasan Guru Malaysia Bhd and Putrajaya Consultative Council of Parents and Teachers Associations, and endorsed by the Education Ministry, were launched during a seminar in Penang yesterday.

1. HOW muscular is muscular?? Please, Malaysia Education Ministry (MEM), give us pictorial examples! Or better still, give us pectoral examples

Malaysia holds seminars on how to spot gay children

(Reuters) - The Malaysian government has begun holding seminars aiming to help teachers and parents spot signs of homosexuality in children, underscoring a rise in religious conservatism in the Muslim majority nation.

So far, the Teachers Foundation of Malaysia has organized 10 seminars across the nation. Attendance at the last event on Wednesday reached 1,500 people, a spokesman for the organization told Reuters.

"It is a multi-religious and multicultural (event), after all, all religions are basically against that type of behavior," said the official.

The federal government said in March that it is working to curb the "problem" of homosexuality, especially among Muslims who make up over 60 percent of Malaysia's 29 million people.

According to a handout issued at a recent seminar, signs of homosexuality in boys may include preferences for tight, light colored clothes and large handbags, local media reported.

For girls, the details were less clear. Girls with lesbian tendencies have no affection for men and like to hang out and sleep in the company of women, the reports said.

Malaysia frowns on oral and gay sex, describing them as against the order of nature. Under civil law, offenders -- male and female -- can be jailed for up to 20 years, caned or fined.

Actual prosecutions are rare, although former deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim has twice been tried for sodomy, in cases he called political conspiracies. He spent six years in jail, but the courts have since cleared him on appeal or dropped charges for lack of evidence.

Official intolerance of gays has been on the rise. Last year, despite widespread criticism, the east coast state of Terengganu set up a camp for "effeminate" boys to show them how to become men.

The latest seminar for the teachers and parents was run by deputy education minister Puad Zarkashi, his office confirmed.

Zarkashi wasn't immediately available for comment but national news agency Bernama quoted him as saying that being able to identify the signs will help contain the spread of the unhealthy lifestyle among the young, especially students.

"Youths are easily influenced by websites and blogs relating to LGBT groups," he was quoted as saying, using the acronym for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

"This can also spread among their friends. We are worried that this happens during schooling time."

So they are saying that men should not wear V neck clothings anymore. Men should no longer have muscular bodies. Even if they do, they need to hide it with layers and layers of clothes. They must wear dark coloured layers like black and brown and navy.

Basically, all men should dress the same. And not carry any bags because women have tiny to big handbags therefore, men should not carry bags of all sizes.

And women should hang out in the company of more women. But not too many women cause that's also lesbian. So they should hang with an exact amount of women or best dont hang out with women to avoid suspicion.

Moral of the story,

Men must not show their muscles, men must only wear dark clothes and have no bags.

Women must not be seen in the company of other women aka, women must be seen with many man

Malaysia should spend more time tackling more important issues in their country rather than setting guidelines to indentify gay and lesbian in school. The funny thing is it is even endorsed by their ministry of education.

There are a lot of muscular straight men that likes to show off their muscle and in tight v neck tee shirt. So are they showing gay symptoms too ? Malaysia is always such a laughing stock.

i prefer fitting clothings dont mind any colours but prefer grey/white/navy blue and especially maroon

big handbags probably not, just a sling bag that i carry from the handle, makes me look like a gym rat haha

I guess I have laughed enough. Laughing more is just being impolite. People make mistakes. We make mistakes. We don't need to make matters worse. Some people are just opportunists and we shouldn't allow that to happen. I hope this issue dies off soon and everyone can focus on more important issues for the betterment of the GLBT community - locally and internationally.

KUALA LUMPUR: A briyani shop here poked fun at the purported guidelines to spot gays and lesbians for schoolchildren by giving away free meals to men wearing tight-fitting V-neck T-shirts and carrying sling bags.

What started off as a pub conversation quickly set siblings and owners Herukh and Kubhaer T. Jeswant of the Fierce Curry House in Bangsar Utama to add some fun to their business and celebrate the diversity of their patrons.

“When the guidelines came out, we thought it was ridiculous.

“But instead of joining in the fray to condemn it, we thought it would be an interesting concept to give out free briyani meals to the first 15 men who walk in with a V-neck and a man-bag,” said Herukh, who publicised his offer on Facebook.

By midday yesterday, the brothers had to extend their promotion to another 10 customers after receiving a roaring response.

Kubhaer said even women walked in with V-neck T-shirts and man-bags but they were disappointed because the offer was only for men.

“If only the guidelines were easier to identify,” he said, bursting with laughter when The Star met them yesterday.

Yayasan Guru Malaysia Bhd and the Putrajaya Consultative Council of Parents and Teachers Associations, who organised a parenting seminar in Penang, had distributed the alleged guidelines to participants on Thursday.

Among others, the guidelines said tendencies of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenderers (LGBT) can be spotted among boys wearing tight-fitting V-neck T-shirts and carrying large sling bags, and girls who enjoy the company of their own gender.

The Education Ministry has since denied it had endorsed the guidelines although it views cases of social ills in the community seriously.

Actor and events manager Alfred Loh who enjoyed his free briyani said it was a great way to raise awareness, not particularly for any rights groups but on current issues.

“As a completely heterosexual man, it is also a wonderful way to discover a new fashion sense,” he said, beaming in his red V-neck and a borrowed black man-bag. Gay rights activist Pang Khee Teik said that he was happy with the public outcry over the absurdity of the guidelines.

“I'm glad that Fierce Curry House acknowledges that education, like food, must be made available to everyone,” he said.
