I wonder if it would be possible for AfA and/or other similar groups to create a small booklet with simple descriptions of the main STDs and the contact information of places to get tested? The info should be brief and to-the-point -- what are the main STDs (gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, pubic lice, genital warts, herpes, HPV, HIV, etc.) / how are they spread / what are the symptoms / what are the consequences -- so on and so forth. Free booklets would be set up in obvious spots and available to take at places like saunas and bars.

Maybe this has been done before? Perhaps there are government restrictions on exactly what can be put into print? But something needs to be done. A lot of people, especially teenagers, are becoming sexually active with almost no knowledge of STDs. I've met guys at saunas who said they didn't know how HIV is spread and had never even heard of chlamydia for example. This is a serious problem in a highly educated country. I know a simple pocket-sized booklet with info in four languages will not solve everything but it is a start.

Good morning,

YES! We agreed with you 100%. We are continuing to work with DSC to create a safe space for our community to test and treat without the fear. DSC has many booklets on the different STIs and one particular for the gay/bi men. We will ask DSC if we can take some to place them in the sauna. Thank you for the suggestion. Also, if you know any young gay/bi men under 25 years old, we have a programme for them, Pink Carpet Y (Youth) aims to educate young men on the HIV/STIs through a Drop-In centre. Email the coordinator pcy@gayhealth.sg for more info.

Went down to DSC Clinic for a test. Took 2 tests - HIV and Syphilis, and they ended up giving me both tests for free. Donated $30 anyway, since I was actually mentally prepared to pay for both tests. :D

Thank you !

Hi Blowing Wind.

I'm 18, and i think i got Gonnorhea. I cross-checked the symptomps online and it's happening to me.

Is there any clinic you know of that i could get treated at other than the DSC Clinic (I made an appointment but it's next Thursday and my penis is really hurting right now, and i don't think i can wait that long. )And how much is the price? I've saved using my Angpao money around 100sgd... Is that going to be enough?

Please, please let me know.

DSC does allow walk-in in case you are not aware.

You just need to pay an extra $5 and tell them you are very willing to wait.

As it still depends on the no. of registered patients for the day. Be the first few to arrive at the door to show your sincerity.

Please call to confirm in case the rules have changed.

Get well soon!

I wouldn't worry about your future. Companies won't have access to your health history.
Also, self diagnosing is a big no-no. It might be something completely different from what you think it is.

Go see a doctor and get it sorted out as quickly as you can.

And don't stress yourself out. It's curable and preventable.

actually i hardly visit the clinic now (not even for common flu) so i m appreciative if others come fwd to share

Dr. Tan clinics (mentioned above and alot in his group of clinics) should offer privacy and respect

and there is no need to spend time coordinating, arranging to meet someone to babysit us to visit a clinic

Just get it done

any clinics have the same cure , nt just Dr Tan. not 1 has special super medicine in curing STIs
the only super types we have is: Super gonorrhoea: Why the STI could become untreatable?

I trust all have read about it:

neither will i wanna step (even near to) into DSC

First, any other clinics have the same cure/medicine, most importantly efficient and time-saving, instantly it is your turn

2nd, (the moment u enter a DSC out of blue, i know u must be having some form of sexual contacts, wanna clarify abt Hiv or STIs) lots of biz and hawker food patron is around there too, clearly tell others what u r there for (DSC wasted everyone's time on booking appointment and it is a long wait for your arrival)

i dont think DSC is cheap too (u can google for its price too)- only 1 outlet

Did the clerks ask what your problem is? or why annoying?

On a note: I thought the clinic need to do a test first if it is a STD, before they would prescribe any treatment or medication?

Also, if you need someone to accompany you to see a doc, feel free to PM me.  I know it can be daunting / scary to go alone.

Im just letting you know that you don’t have to.

If I request your service to accompany me, would hold my hand at the waiting area of the clinic?

No the clerks didn't ask about my problem. The doctor didn't disclose to them, so they were like being very loud in mandarin saying "i dont know what he suffering leh, dunno what to explain doctor also never write"

He didn't have to do that much of a test considering the gauze that i wrapped around my dick was heavily pus-sed. He was like yeah it's def Gonorrhea.
