What Times Are Gyms Usually Empty?

Blow-

Recommended Posts

So my holidays are around the corner and I've been thinking of starting to work out more - I really dislike being in crowded places though (gyms not an exception). Recently everyone seems to be heading to the gym, so I expect them to be crowded most of the time, but are there ever times when they're almost empty? I'm thinking perhaps right after the gym opens, or after the lunch hour, but I'm not too sure.

Every gym is different. If your gym has a high number of working adults, in the CBD or orchard, it's most crowded in early mornings, lunch and after working hours.

If it's clubfitt, it will be filled with kids. But generally, I find around 9am to be the emptiest.

Hope this helps.

Mid night 12am onward...the whole gym is for You! Especially at Anytimes Fitness 24 hours.

There is a new gym coming soon at Kallang Waves Mall.

Singapore Sports Hub have attracted a lot of young people...

What gym is that?

Depends which gym u go to. Safra gym and town area gym usually shld be empty during the afternoon timing. Those sports council gym is quiet in the late morning.

Worse come to worst, just do your own running at a stadium or on your preferred running. You dont hv to depend on free weights if u know how to do static exercises, those exercises can be done at home.. no money spent at all

Different types of gym attract different groups of people (with different schedules), so it depends.

For ActiveSG (aka Clubfitt or SSC) gyms, on weekdays, early to mid-morning: retirees and working adults who gym before work; 12 to 1 something: people who gym during their lunch break; mid-afternoon to early evening: students, housewives; 7ish to closing: working adults, students (usually most crowded time of day). On weekends typically more evenly spread throughout the day.

Therefore the least crowded times are weekdays late morning, for a short period just after lunch time and a short period in the early evening. And the ActiveSG smartphone app actually allows you to check the realtime occupancy of the gym so you can verify this for yourself.

For 24hr gyms...

For gyms that usually open in the morning it's at 12 noon where the morning crowd leaves and the afternoon crowd hasn't entered yet.

I said this through my own experience and a number of observation.

Similarly for public pools too.

I realise hotel gym is empty most of the time. Does anyone know is there any hotel gym that opens to the public?

When I was back for CNY, ActiveSG wasn't too bad in the morning on weekends.

Started my routine at 7.40am and was done by 9 plus before heading to swim and done with everything by 11; rest of the afternoon to enjoy!

Went to Bedok ActiveSG on weekday evenings - quite small indeed but still could get quite some exercise out compared to other gyms in the Northeast.
