Material - silicone is best. Cost more, but it's durable and body safe. I have tried TPE dildos too. They are cheap but are not durable. They can deform and I've had to dispose one after only a few uses.

 

Find out more about dual density silicone dildos. The inner shaft is firmer and the outer shaft is softer. This type is my personal favourite that I have in my collection.

Some ideas you can try: 

1) stick the dildo to the seat of a chair. Then you position your self facing the backrest of the chair (opposite from how you would normally sit on a chair) and ride that dildo.
