Guest Durain King Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I look fierce, but inside me I am very soft and nice guy and chatty personality too. People who knew me thought I am too soft. But my look fierce and frightened many people. How to change to look to truly reflect my inner personality. Are there some kind of "facial exercise" I need to do? I tried smiling as some kind of regular "therapy", but people thought I am crazy. I am like an During - thorny outside soft & sweet inside. But not many people like me when they see me.

Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so there will be people who thinks you are cute or kind looking. 各花入各眼。

Guest Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Just be true to yourself please. A kind lucky gentleman may one day " read" your personality well and fall in love with you. It is better to have a fierce look but deep inside you a real fine kind hearted person who can share a wonderful life with your lucky partner. I rather had a guy who smiles well "internally" rather than a person putting a false show of kindness. Biru_Sky and jamestan90 2

Guest Durian King Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Ok, may be fierce is an understatement. I have a killer look but deep inside me I am still afraid of killing an insect or afraid of it, I am quite soft-spoken too.
Guest Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Just be yourself unless you can act two face, haha.
TheKaze Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Just be natural and don't force / overdo-ing it. Me too, I have a resting bitch face which according to my friends, seems inapproachable and unfriendly. For a period of time, I tried to smile more often and tried to portray a bubbly image of myself. But it's all too draining, and at a certain point of time, I lost myself and I got more hostile towards new people as it was too tiring to keep a bubbly facade. In a way, I'm glad to have a resting bitch face as it allows very selective genuine people who truly want to know you, to approach you and not just any hi-bye friends / strangers. jamestan90, cloz8dude, Hemnes and 1 other 4
Never again Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 embrace the resting bitch face, i do Hemnes 1
Guest Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Ya, what some of the posters have said do work. Smile more. Nvm if people think you are crazy. Shape your brows. The shape of your brows can make a difference to your facial expression. Change your hairstyle. Having longer fringe which covers your forehead/eyebrows will help to soften your look. Colour your hair darker. A light colour, such as golden blonde, may make you look Beng, which will add to the ferocity of your look. Dress more colourfully and fun. Make use of dressing to help portay your inner self to others.
cloz8dude Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I can relate to TS. I have a face of a old haggard warlock with a mind of a 10 yo kid. We're just genetically born that way I guess. But know what, some people find it cute and adorable(speaking from experience). Yes, people less likely to approach me. However, when they do, they are instantly charmed by my soft side;) So take it easy, embrace it and smile often! Biru_Sky 1
Guest Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Maybe you hv the gay version of the RESTING BITCH FACE phenomenon. Scientific research have confirmed the existance of the RBF in some famous female celebrities without even them knowing or trying hard to be one. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/02/03/health/resting-bitch-face-research-irpt/ fsmoud resting bitch face celebrities 'Resting bitch face' is real, scientists say CNN)Good news, everyone! You can now wear your mildly discontented face with some validation. The phenomenon known as "resting bitch face" is real, according to scientists. Better yet, there's research available that could explain why some people are "throwing shade." In a study conducted in October 2015, scientists Abbe Macbeth and Jason Rogers from Noldus Information Technology, a company that develops software for observational and behavioral research, used the company's FaceReader software to analyze the faces of celebrities like Kanye West, Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick and Queen Elizabeth II, notable public figures who have been known to occasionally wear a less-than-pleased expression. How Trump's bumptious body language dominates "We were looking to see if anything popped out," Macbeth said. "Our software is objective. It's not prone to human subjectivity like we are." What they discovered was that celebrities who had bored or annoyed looks were showing underlying levels of emotions that are not seen in people who don't have RBF. Reading your face Here's how the software works: Scientists pick a neutral-looking image of a person — one in which they aren't smiling — and run it through the FaceReader software. The software then registers the face and gives a percentage of underlying emotions it's picking up. On an average reading, the software will register a face at 97% neutral. But there's about 3% of an underlying expression, Macbeth explained. That 3% is made of emotions that show traces of sadness, happiness or anger, for example. "We see that people who have this RBF expression [have] double the amount of emotionality expressed," she said. Those afflicted with RBF may show a jump of trace emotions as high as 6% and most of the emotion expressed is of contempt: the feeling that something is worthless or deserving scorn. Subtle facial expressions like a slightly pulled-back lip or squinting eyes are read as contempt, Macbeth said. Celebrities with neutral faces are people like Jennifer Aniston and Blake Lively, Macbeth said. Although their faces are neutral, according to the software, people will register Aniston and Lively's faces as happy faces. She and Rogers, both behavioral neuroscientists, want to do more with the data than just identify who has RBF. They want to know why some people have it and what RBF means in terms of a person's psychology. Most important, they also want to understand why people react so negatively to a face with RBF. "We've all heard the anecdotal evidence of people being told to smile more ... there's something that is unconsciously showing up on people's faces when people think they are just being neutral," Macbeth said. RBF first gained attention when a meme took over the Internet in 2013. That, plus a viral mock-public service announcement on "Bitchy Resting Face" made the "condition" somewhat of a joke. Is RBF really a thing? But RBF is a real phenomenon, according to David B. Givens, director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies in Spokane, Washington. He calls the condition blank face and said in studies, subjects judge a neutral, expressionless face to be "unfriendly." Anthony S. Youn, a board certified plastic surgeon in Detroit, has RBF and said it's a combination of multiple forces. "Gravity combined with genetics can pull our mouths down. As we get older and our skin gets looser and it gives us a permanent frown," he said. When it comes to whether software can detect the emotions behind RBF, Youn said he doesn't know if what Noldus's software is seeing is true emotions. "I don't think they can tell if it's true sadness or bitterness," he said. "I have it, but it doesn't mean I am in a bad mood." It doesn't hurt to try smiling, though. There's research to suggest that smiling can boost a person's happiness levels. "The expression on our face can affect our mood," he said. Nevertheless, there are a few people who really want to know if they have RBF, Macbeth said. Since Tuesday, when people started discovering they can get their face analyzed, Noldus Information Technology has received more than 150 photos from people asking to see if they have RBF Another way to see if you have RBF, or if you will have it in the future, can be as easy as looking at your relatives, Youn said. "The biggest predictor of those who have RBF is if your parents have it," he said. If you fear you have that face and are worried why so many people think you look angry all the time, you can share your photo with Noldus and find out if you have RBF.

thorzguy Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Just be yourself. I have been "confirmed" by quite a number of friends - that I have the beng look. I try to smile a little more, but I can't walk around with a smile, perpetually on my face right? Plus, if one is really keen to know more/ in-depth of you, they will make the effort to, and not based on looks alone.

Since so, as long as it dun hurt anyone, just be yourself as it should be one of the prioritised people that you would wanna please... if not u will end up being negative and may eventually, lead to depression.
iamziz Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I was told by many they didn't dare to approach me as I can look fierce myself if I don't smile. Some even came forward saying they approached me because of my smile. So, yes. Smile more. I love smiling. It connects people. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 善待对人。麻烦用英文来表达信息。不是每个人都会看的懂中文 。| “People need to learn the art of making an argument. Guest Uncle next door Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I have the uncle next door look and I smile alot. So in Little India, tourists ask me the way to Mustafa, in Chinatown tourists ask me the way to People's Park. Little children call me uncle on the bus, school kids give seats to me on mrt. I didn't realise I was smiling until people say hello and smile back at me. These are all nice and innocent except that sometimes gays think that I'm trying to pick them up.
mate69 Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I always have the irritable, frustrated, angry look that most ppl would associate with being aloof. It's the perpetually hot and humid weather that makes me so. It's causing me to always have that scowl on my face. My sterile aloof and so-called fierce look is a direct result of the fxxking hot and humid climate here. I function best in temperate climates. Best is below 5 deg celcius all year round with snow preferably. That way, I will look extremely at ease and friendly.
Guest Fierrrce and bbbitchy Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I'm the type that if i don't smile, people will stuttle in fear and speak in a quivering voice but when i smile, people will somehow think i am mocking them and get offended easily.
