limpeh Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) I guess this topic is those who are cutting/losing weight (like me). I usually keep to a low carb and high protein diet but today, I totally let my self loose: 1) Breakfast: wholemeal bread with fried egg 2) Lunch: Chicken rice 3) 4pm: Went to a friend's place to hang out and he bought Indian rojak 4) Dinner: Ban mian 5) Supper: Fried noodles. 9 pieces of oreos. This is the first time I've completely let myself go after dieting for 3 months. My question is this: What is your experience with cheat meals/days? For those who are dieting, how do you cope? Now I'm just feeling guilty because having cheat days is nowhere near any of my plans Edited February 25, 2017 by limpeh Quote
xydboy Posted February 25, 2017 Posted February 25, 2017 Sounds like what I usually do. Haha! Well, I think the fundamental question is to ask yourself what's next? Its life, live it to the fullest. If it makes you happy good, if not, then do something about it. Honestly when I have my meals with my profs (academicians in the realm of sports science), they always eat what you have. =O Fitness is not restrained within physical component, but also mental well-being. Now I'm just feeling guilty because having cheat days is nowhere near any of my plans Haha! Same here. 12pm: Friend invited to his new house gathering and specially bought 1 large pizza for me. I took 3-4 slices and it kinda bad to leave the thick crust behind, so I just ate all with a packet of jasmine green tea. 2pm: Had a date. Went to KFC (it bad to let him/her eat alone). Ordered set meal. Hard to choose fries or whipped potatoes. But I go for CHEESE fries instead. Plus a burger and coke zero. 5pm. Movie. Movie won't be the same without tidbits. 2 packs of them (some sugar coated nuts and crackers) + coke zero. 7pm. Dinner. Saw a newly open Indian Rojak store at northpoint (ministry of rojak can really recall). But decided to skip that. So tempting. Ate YTF instead + a large coffee. Feeling all guilty....Jog 2.5km. Wanted to jog longer but you know it hard especially all those food and wanted to rest. No face to face the gurus that taught me how to lose weigh till I saw your post today (although guilty, somehow I'm grinning typing those food names). I also manage to do some squats in the bathroom. People keep mentioning about squats in this forum and I thought it just build muscle for the hamstring but seems like the benefits are more than that. Retire early in the night and wishing to Sh*t those goodies in the morning. Quote
gymfan32 Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I guess it depends on how disciplined you are in maintaining a clean strict diet. For me, cheat meals do help. I have been trying my best to cook a healthy breakfast and dinner as long as I could remember. But nowadays, I feel so tired and sian to cook after work and the washing after can be a nightmare. Sometimes, I just to want to eat straight after work and get home asap to rest. haha Quote

Guest 高瘦佬 Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Don't fret over one cheat day. It may actually be good for you as it resets your body's processes. I believe in constantly "tricking" your metabolism and if you eat clean all the time, your body may get less efficient at fat burning as it adapts to a fixed pattern. Same principle why crash diets don't work and only make one loose muscle. I'm assuming of course your cheat days are not too often and you do have a fairly good weight training and exercise regime. snapplejacked2 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 (edited) I don't see what's wrong with having cheat days/meals. You know what causes diets to fail? Yo-yo'ing. I've seen it happen to so many people, myself included. You deprive yourself and then the craving comes back to haunt you twice as hard. Take it from me as a recovering compulsive eater. Give yourself a couple times a month. Edited February 27, 2017 by snapplejacked2 Quote
yoyo74 Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Cheat days or meal does not work for everybody. There are people once cheated, cannot control and keep cheating non stop lol. There are also people that eat a lot of junk food and dont get fat but those are people with great genes and very high metabolism. Age is also a factor that decrease metabolism with increase in age. The older you are the more you need to control unless getting healthy and a nice body is not your concern. Quote
TickTockBang Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Worked for me while i was on a strictly no rice/white bread diet. Cheat day once a week, but i control how much i ate. Jog/excercise everyday. Was going so well. Lost 15kg in 5 months. And then i started working, stress (stress eater), late sleepless nights...boom! Gained back 7kg and wt maintained until now lol. Procrastinate alot to start again. Quote
