try the torrent web site, as 1 PSP is around 1GB, torrent is the easiest way to transfer.

you have to mod your PSP 1st, cost around $40. dont get the ver1.5, at least a ver 3 for the latest games

Skylancer: i tot you own a DS Lite?

anyway to change the PSP firmware to custom firmware you can go to this site download and follow the steps. http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/post-730171.html or http://soucali.com/pspnews/modules/news/in...hp?storytopic=5

but do note that if you want to change to custom firmware 3.03, your PSP must be in firmware 1.50 and below. thus if your current firmware is of higher version, downgrade it to version 1.50 first.

also note that the process of changing to custom firmware 3.03 OE is rather complicated. one wrong step could actually turn your PSP into a useless paperweight.... cause during the process you will actually be meddling with the flash memory of your PSP... thus be extremely careful.

i also heard that if your PSP motherboard is TA-082, there will be some implications.

upgrade at your own risk. and also please do a virus scan on your downloaded file. they should NOT contain any virus thread. thus if your antivirus detected anything, download from another site instead.

FYI: i successfully changed my PSP to custom firmware 3.03OE  Oh... i forgot to mention, for custom firmware, you will NEED an UMD disc (ANY) in your PSP to play your downlaoded games. Oh Yah~~` very important. i forgot to mention, someone said that if you got devhooks (the emulator) in your PSP when you upgrade your firmware to 3.03, it will hang your PSP. i dunno how true is that. but better be safe than sorry.

oralB, if i am not wrong... only original firmware 1.50 and below can be used to play downloaded games right? and for it to be used for playing downlaoded games, you need to have emulators like devhooks installed on your PSP. you will have to enter the emulator first, before accessing your games from there.... 1.50 also do not have a web explorer. thus cannot access to internet using wifi.

Custom firmware is somehow different. you dun need an emulators, and instead, you can straight away access the games under the "Memory Card" menu.

we are talking about mod firmware and playing the game using the memory sticks (in case someone is asking)

there is a higher version of mod firmware that can played the downloaded games directly without the emulators.

if you are unsure on how to change, it is better to pay the $$$ for the shops to flash for you.

and you can buy the downloaded games from them at $6 per game.

skylancer, yeap pay the $40 and let someone handle it.

doing own flash is risky and the shops maynot be able to repair the PSP if flash wrongly. you have to bring all the way back to Sony for repair.

GM, how much you paid for the "upgraded"? you mentioned the "chong" disc, do you meant the chong UMD disc? i didnt know there is pirated UMD. i thought you need to convert the DVD into avi, save to memory stick and watch.

Well OB, most of the games shop at Holiday Plaza has. I didn't buy because I dun have habit of watching movies in my PSP.

Anyway, the DVD disc with the games/show is about RM $15. It has about 7 to 9 titles inside. The installation is really simple.

I usually goes to the shop about 2-3 shop next to the "pao" & drink shop. They sells installers and games DVD.

Thanks Stoner for the links.

How much does it cost for a PSP? I saw a few times when i came across some shops they advertised differently.....I saw 1 shop in Yishun advertised I think is basic package for $208 and standard package for $258 but I went came across Cyberactive they are selling thwe standard package for ard $358.....very confused as I had thought of buying 1 before so I can play on the train when I go to work or home.....yetserday saw a cute married man playing a PSP and alighting in Yishun also

Some shops sells just the PSP with all the basic things. Some shop sells it and comes with 1 or 2 PSP games. So far, most shops I come across sells around $350+ which comes with 1 or 2 PSP games. So, you can ask around the shops what is in the PSP package. This can give you a clue why some shops sell in at different price.

After you buy it, then you can play with that cute married man and slowly become friends, and then slowly something else happen... hehehe... :D (I think too much liaos.... )

Went to confirm, it is for 2nd hand but 1st hand is probably about $50 difference......and its ard $ for 'Mod' set....but I already called an army fren of mine and his shop is selling for $319 and without game leh....hmmmm wondered if I should go down Funan and check out the Gamescore that you guys mentioned.... :( and tell my fren not buying from him....sigh

Why not you just go to Funan and check it out? Alot of us will give our preferred "answer" for purchasing a PSP. I think if you go to check personally, you can learn alot more. :)

You can ask the people in the shops too. State what's your preferences and they can advise and show your the product at the same time.... :)

quick run through

basic package vs standard package - go for basic, the 32MB memory stick from standard is not worth the $$$, go online to buy the 1GB (at least) other accessories can be purchased seperately at a cheaper price.

however i was told Sony is not coming out with basic so you might be getting an older set (so ask ask ask)

go for mod as you can play pirated games. what's expensive is not the console but the games, unless you are those can play 1 game for the Nth time. pirated games can be found in the stores selling the MOD or torrent download.

you transfer the games from your PC to the memory stick via USB cable to play, hence the bigger capacity the better since each game is roughly 1GB.

do note MOD will void warranty. even if you send back to servicing, sony will conveniently update to latest non-mod version.

hope this summarized all you wanna know on PSP

Final Fantasy 1 Annverisary Edition is coming out 19 Apr... But its in Jap version.. anyone getting it?

The problem wif psp is they r getting too many old games. Even if they r remake, the game play feel is still the same, only graphic changed. Nothing new. I had played FF1 on WS, NES and GBA. PSP version again? If no need money to play the game i wont mind :D

If u intend to play games from MS, IMO 1GB is not enough lah, go for at least 2GB. Some games are larger than 1GB already.

while for FF1 aniversary edition, there are addition and enchanced features and dungeons (or else it won't be anniverasry edition, rite?).

anyway, it is up to personal preference whether to play certain games.

BTW, FF1 Anniversary Edition is out (which support both Jap and Eng language). Selling at $49 in Gamescore. Now, I m really tempted to buy... :D:lol::P:)

I think this edition of FF1 is really digitally re-mastered... the opening scene is very sharp and clear.... :)

Next on line, FF2 and FF Tactics... :P:D

God of War is not a horror game but action adventure game, sorry for sounding like a Gaming Cunt, yes I'm one!

Horror games are games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Fatal Frame.

Yeah God of War is a fantastic game but painfully short. But the replay value is there due to it being short, you can thus try to complete it in Hard Mode or even God Mode without seeing too many of the repeated scenes.

Or you can try playing Challenge of Hades, will sure make you scream and even tempted to throw your PSP on the floor

(Still waiting for my psp to be returned so that I can start on my FFVII.....)
