Board's New Feature: Irc Chat Java Applet

We are pleased to announce a new feature - our own IRC Chat java applet. It is still in beta stage. Basically, it is an alternative way to access #Blowingwind chatroom without the installation of mIRC software in your system.

You can now access it at http://www.blowingwind.org/chat/

To have it running, you must install java application and enable java script. You need to accept coolsmile to establish the connection.

Blowingwind Chatroom

01. You can change your nick at the top left 'Your Nick' column.

02. Click on 'Options' to change Dialogs/Prefernces/Colors/Sound/Advanced

03. Click on Login/Logout to enter or exit the chatroom.

For those who find it hard to connect, you may try with one of these alternative servers:

I always get this message: 'Couldn't establish connection with chat server singapore.sg.galaxynet.org:6,667.'

Anyway, just to remind all chatroom users of the following again :

For Users

We ask that users observe a few basic guidelines to keep the channel fun and civil.

- Don't harass or attack other users; this includes racist/sexist behavior, excessive cursing, etc.

- Don't paste large amounts of text into the channel or spam.

- Don't advertise for sex.

- Do not enter and leave the channel repeatedly just to peek at who are in the channel, it can be very irritating. Stay a while and chat.

- Respect channel ops, who may set other rules as they see fit.

Our rules are more or less a matter of common sense. In general, if you're doing something wrong, you'll get a warning from a channel operator. Continued misbehavior can result in being kicked or temporarily banned from the channel. If you're unsure about anything, ask a channel op.

Last but not least, have fun chatting!

Fixes:

01. A 'Chat' button added:

02. Applet now do not auto connect. A popup 'Connection' will appear:

02. You will need to fill up [Optional]:

- Your Nick

- Age

- Sex

- Location

Filling these fields will minimise BWers in that chatroom from asking you about your intro

- Password is not necessary

The common error would be 'Too many connections from your host', which is self-explanatory. Keep trying. Alternatively, try the servers as posted in #2 above.

I tried it from home pc. No problem at all. Just that no one was inside.

Office pc has too many firewall and other admin rights issue,, therefore cannot access lah

same here..can't connect..updated all softwares in my laptop yet hasnt shown any...

can sumone address the issue? think needs repair..all the irc servers could not cater at all...

I guess you have already installed Java Software. Next, what do you get when you click on the IRC server?

By clicking on any of the server, you will get a window where you need to click 'Run' for the chat applet/application to run:

In some instance, another security window will prompt to warn you of unsafe components. Ignore this warning by clicking 'NO'. Clicking 'YES' will block coolsmile where you will not be able to get into the chatroom.

#Blowingwind Chat room is still a popular room amongst BWers [members and guests].

for some reason, the chat doesnt open up on Internet Explorer in my laptop, but works fine with firefox and google chrome.

Help! I've installed the latest version of Java but the chat window still says "Java is required to display this content". Am using Chrome, and i made sure the plug-in is allowed on the browser...

Same. I got the error after updating to the latest java. I use Trevvy to chat now.

i am new to this web. I tried to go to IRC chat but was told to download Java. i have downloaded it but still

1. Sorry this feature is NOT supported anymore as the Galaxynet IRC servers are not available anymore.

 

2. There is now a new chat feature which you can explore at the bottom right corner of this page.

Note: You must be login to blowingwind as a member to see and use it.

 

3. I will also close this topic as it refers to the old chat feature.
