Popular Post HendryTan Posted April 28, 2018 Popular Post Report Share Posted April 28, 2018 1. BlowingWind Forum went offline from Thur 26April 2:30pm (?) to about 28April 2:30pm 2. Reason: The forum was running noticeably SLOWER than usual. We did the normal check but could not find any major issue except the database seems slow. 3. We decided to take the system offline. a. Backup b. Re-organise the database for speed. c. Unfortunately the re-organisation (b) failed and we had to rely on the backup (a) and recreate the database. d. Also we have removed some search capabilty that is CPU/Disk intensive. The above steps took longer than usual as we were juggling with limited CPU/disk/Ram resources. 4. These are just temporary remedial actions as the forum seem to passed some tipping point in the Size of the Database and what our current resource can hold. EXPECT SLOWNESS and SUDDEN NON-AVAILABILITY in the coming weeks. Please check the BlowingWind facebook pages for announcement if you guys find us offline. 5. Going Ahead. The moderators met several weeks ago. All the moderators present agreed to procure more resources like CPU/RAM/Disk/Bandwidth to power the forum. In view of this issue, we will now have to bring forward this procurement plan. From reource$ point, the moderators did some budgeting and believe we still CAN COPE Financially. Although it will be tight. Guys don't worry. Just remember to support our Advertisers :-) If you know of advertisers, PM OralB :-) Cheers ! In the future when the forum is down, can this page convey some explanation?
