Hdb related - Gas Pipe and Utilities

Not sure if this fits in here. Does anyone knows if HDB flats build or TOP from 1981 to 1990 era comes with gas pipes or whether there is a way to find out during house hunting?

You will have to ask the house owner and they will be up-front about it.

 

Induction hobs are popular nowadays and HDB is upgrading electricity supply for older flats to cater to this demand.

Yes it comes with gas pipe. If not, ask your contactor to extend the pipe for you to the stove otherwise pub is glad to do it for you.  Most HDB will have gas meter. No worry about the piping part. However some owner already did it and save you the problem. Very little hassle to worry about.

Not all areas in Sg are equipped with gas pipes.  Jurong is one of them and there's no plan to upgrade.

 

You can also check with SP for info.

Yes, my block is one of those HDB blocks that do not have gas pipes running in the building. I'm using induction hob instead

Thanks all. I started looking around and figure best way to know is either to call SP or to check the void deck for gas pipes.

Thought gas pipe is standard in hdb flats? Now then i know some hdb do not have has pipe?! I find whether the flat has gas pipe or not, it is better to use induction cooker due to safer.

I think that depends. Coz having gas also means the ability to use gas appliances beyond the gas stove - such as gas dryer for clothes and gas heater for shower and taps.
