Anyone else sad that Tamp Safra will shut down in 5 years' time to make way for new BTO?

 

Cannot imagine the entire easties (tampines, pasir ris, bedok, simei) going to Bayshore in 2030...

 

Unless it's a super huge gym like 2-3 stories 😅

Whether it's a huge gym is another issue altogether. But I find Tampines/Bedok/Pasir Ris is like a different universe from Bayshore/Marine Parade side. The locations are sitting on separate MRT lines. Gonna be inconvenient. But SAFRA has always been in 'not very convenient' locations, ain't it?

The per entry rate does not have admin fee (unless you sign up as a permanent gym member), if you look at the table below, it is inclusive of 9% GST. The only thing is whether you are a SAFRA member, and when are you going - peak/off peak period, then pay the listed price accordingly eh. Hope this helps.

Nope. I just tried today. Payment will be done at the counter but I think you have to leave within the off peak or peak period timing, depending on when you go

For gym members who might also be using the swimming pool, do take note of the changes below - taking place over different period/date for the different branches eh - the use of facial recognition for pool entrance.

I left E1 today mid workout from embarrassment. There was someone that seemed to be taking a really long time at the leg extension machine. I decided to ask how much longer or can share. "Yo bro, do you mind"

Safra Tampines is smallest but always rarely crowded and is cosy which is nice but no jacuzzi which I don't bother anyways ...there's a steam room if it means something for you...for me it's just hard core workouts...day time even like today a Sat is like only eight guys at most and even evenings on weekdays it's not empty but nvr full ...one almost never have to wait! 

 

I don't use any others except a couple of times at tpy and hated it it's like a circus ...besides I am nvr here to cruise but to workout 💪 and of cos tampines pool is really awesome! Draw back is safra Tampines will be torn down in four yrs and relocated to Bayshore next to the MRT STN!

Yes! The gym is small but I can get the rack or bench even during after work peak periods (just that sometimes have to wait a while). The pool is great too and there’s no crowd so don’t need to worry so much about avoiding other swimmers. I’ve changed jobs so won’t be going there as much now but it was really underrated place.

Just dont get why the govt thinks tampines and bayshore is near? Tampines is huge and the safra has served the residents there well for many years, in 3 years' time they want to force all Tampines residents to go Bayshore which is not exactly near and its gonna be super packed due to the all the new Bayshore BTO + marine parade residents.

I fully agree with you and many members are not happy and during covid we heard rumours hence you can see why amongst all safra locations only Tampines did not go thru a full upgrade but instead maintain it for operations ...so when news came in last year if memory does not fail me we were not surprised but yes only surprised as to why Bayshore? It's ridiculous indeed!

I think you are partly correct but it's also becos there are many options of gyms near safra Tampines already...

Guessing also the new mall/condo Pinery Mall connected to Tamp west MRT will have a new commercial gym.
