No choice since that is the policy,  i would say go for resale,  buy within your limits, property prices can only go up in SG so is advisable to buy as soon as u hit 35.

What you mean by subsidized flats? 
I’m query about it because I had bought 2room BTO flat (99yrs) with HDB under single scheme. And under single scheme, instead of paying the usual price stated eg. 150k, I have to pay additional 10k on top of 150k (Total:160k) for the flat. The HDB staff told me the HDB will return your 10k, once you got married as to encourage single to go into marriage and build a family. At that point of time, my mind was “eeerrrr… okay…. So basically this 10k is gone as SG or HDB will never allow gay marriage and won’t recognize overseas gay marriage too…” 

So where got subsidized?

I don't know how a 23- year old single person can get a a 1,400-square-foot HDB flat under his own name. Is that even legal? As far as I know, a 23 year old cannot buy a flat unless he is widowed or orphaned. And if it is bought under the father's name, I wonder if he has other properties elsewhere. Sounds like something fishy going on.

Thought need to pay $15k more when single buy a 2 rm BTO flat? I find this is very discriminate, why do HDB punish single who buy a BTO flat by paying more than couples? Just because that person is single?

Hugo ng sold all his properties in other countries and now stay in a rented property in penang if i am not wrong. This is why he can buy a HDB in sg. I think the flat should be bought under his own name, but this flat eventually will give it to his son, or change to his name when he reached 35 year old.

Resale flat now is ex, min price for a 3 room flat if you want to buy those newer flat is at least $400k and above. If you want a better location, have to pay $500k or more. Even you want to buy those 40 year old plus 3 room flat, also need to pay $350k to $400K plus for better location. Crazy pricing now.

If he has kept his overseas properties and bought an overpriced HDB here, then he is the criminal here; If he has transferred his overseas properties to his wife and bought an overpriced HDB here, then he is an immoral one to game the system here; If he has sold all his properties overseas to buy an overpriced HDB here, then he is the stupid one;

Might have increased? I made the selection and 10% down payment 5years ago, it was additional 10k. I still waiting for key collection which HDB has notified that it will 2nd half of this year.

If you really have to buy, that's where you'll want all the grants and subsidies.

resale is never cheap, those era when a 3 room resale flat selling at 150k is not going to come back. Yes,  price is crazy now at 300k+, then it will became more crazy 400k,  500k.

 

Those who have not bought a hdb say 10 years ago because price was very high probably will regret today as price is even higher. Not to mention the 10 years rental that would have been accumulated.

Yes,  i think he look very old for his age,  just like zhu hou ren,  maybe is the white hair? White hair and no hair is the top 2 killer that makes you look way beyond your actual age.

White hair still easy to solve by dyeing hair. But no hair is more difficult to resolve.
