The sceptic in me thinks it is too much of a coincidence that on the day that he leaves, Usak just so happens to volunteer for the coffee van job AND manages to get Kazuto to work the van with him. Then, as soon as they get back, Usak goes into the house and comes out with his packed bags. I think surely there must have been a bit of scripting involved.

 

Am not saying its wrong. After all, this is a tv series and the creators need ratings but just saying ..

I think both.

 

Real in that the participants are not acting nor following a set story line.

 

Maybe the scripting comes across in the form of editing i.e. how scenes are presented and out of the normal timeline - for example, a discussion at the house can follow some happening at the van and vice versa. Relevant comments from the panel also edited in, to enhance or provoke thoughts.

I really teared up when Usak made his speech and then Dai said they bought chicken breast for him only for Usak to say to eat on his behalf. I teared up again when they showed his drawings. It is so good but also kind of feel like a very nice drama series 😂

I think general there is no genuine "reality" show out there. The editing and all that drives a narrative so to some extent, there is some scripting involved. In fact, according to JPN twitter, a majority of the cast are aware of each other socially so the casting director must have pulled some strings here n there, or chosen some people for plot direction (like how Alan and Dai had sex in the past as some kinda drama fodder but I think it fizzled out real fast).

Yes, agree with your comment re they being socially aware or each other. A show like this, especially in Japan, will out the participants so they must already be in the scene, in some form or another. Totally with you on your comment that what we see on screen is what is presented - am sure there is a lot of editing.

Not surprised many people like Taeheon, he is my Top 2 fav too, the other one being Kazuto.

 

Taeheon is handsome, fit, seems nice and DTE, does not vie for attention but still try his best to be sociable, listens more than he talks....overall just my type and so boyfriend material.

 

I dun think it got to do with his age but the Korean part might be true to some extent. Japs in general, even the younger ones, still tend to go for their own race and view other race as outsiders, its like okay for friends but not for lovers (just like how most local chinese only go for chinese lol). Historically Japs and Koreans do not have very friendly past too.

 

Kazuto will just appeal to most gays, how to not like that face and vibe. and he can cook too!
