cycle25 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Done with this week's episodes. Episode 10 - Uggh, so much Wizaya to sit through. 🙄 Enough already. Episode 11 - Things started to heat up. Episode 12 - They had to leave us on the cliffhanger didn't they? I love how the musical score changed suddenly. But honestly, this season is definitely not as light-hearted as the previous. As always, Bomi and Huwei's scenes are so kawaii. Glad to see Jobu getting somewhere. He reminds me of one of my friends - they have similar smiles with the facial hair. StockBottom 1 Quote

Please intro your friend to me! 😍 This season definitely feels heavier, all the talks about love, family, coming out, self-esteem, society, even division within the gay community ... Huwei, Kazuyuki and even Tomoaki. Jobu's dynamics with his mum was also a joy to watch. She's such an amazing mum. No wonder Jobu is such a sweetheart. Ryuki's overwhelming guilt about not being able to give his dad grandkids Hiroya saying this society sucks and yet displayed some form of internalised homophobia towards the louder gay community in his conversation with Tomoaki Taeheon talking about his need to have a companion instead of just wanting one. His resolve to cut ties if his family does not accept him (in constrast to his hesistation in S1) If S1 was romantic fluff (most of the serious talk was only seen in behind-the-scenes clips on Youtube), S2 offers an authentic melancholic look at the struggles faced by the community. However, I appreciate the small spots of brightness offered by the show. Between Huwei's mum saying "no matter what, you're still my son" to Jobu's mum saying "I really didn't want you to have to go through that by yourself" to Tomoaki saying his friends saved him from thinking he's nothing more than a gross and crazy person, the shows offers some possibiliy and hope that acceptance can be found somewhere. Vometra Posted February 3 Posted February 3 (edited) Just finished too Hiroya is my fav character, and I like Ryuki and Tomoaki more and more with each new episode. You can really see these characters grow. Really like Bomi's confession; they must be freezing their ass off. And Tomoaki's letter; it's very moving that it's not only about his gayness, but more on his love and gratitude for his parents 😥 Two months are really a very short time to know someone deeply. Some folks are just not that demonstrative or say everything out loud, but they might love you in their quiet ways. Celebrate and embrace your differences. sphere Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Nice 'Reunion Show' for the participants to catch up with the audiences... will comment on the non-couples instead... I like the transformation of Tomoaki, he looked more cheerful and happier than in the dating show - being comfortable with himself and his new friends around. Kazuyuki was good too, while he didn't walk away with a new partner in the show, he reunited with his own happiness. Ryuki had been struggling with his coming out issues, but it was good to see that he was able to overcome this 'challenge'. Actually Hiroya was kind of charming in his own ways, and now a 'big brother' of the group looking after them (such as a stayover). The last question on "What does 'Boyfriend' actually mean to you?" - they each found their own definitions to define it, which was a good closing for this reunion show. Somehow, I find this season more 'happy' to watch (especially the kawaii couple, haha), despite the initial stressful conversations from the first couple. Glad that they had the moments that they did. Would have loved if they could have worked things out but alas, what's meant to be is meant to be. William and Izaya are still together? I couldn't be bothered with most of what they were saying and was a little dismayed that they came back for the formal dinner. Huwei & Bomi, want the best for the both of them. Cute cute cute and rooting for them to bloom & blossom together. Enjoyed it way better than season 1, and the individual human stories in the current season, despite their own flaws, are more endearing and resonant this time. No hissy prissy ridiculous just-want-to-bitchslap-and-bash-him self centred fugly cunt like Shun, so that’s the best improvement. Contrary to general consensus, enjoyed the William and Izaya episodes. Way less infuriating and irritating than watching Dai and Shun, can see the valid perspectives of both persons despite the push and pull emo overthinking episodes. At least it’s not all one-sided selfish nonsense between Shun and Dai. Quite endearing. Enjoyed the Huwei and Bomi pairings very much, very endearing episodes but always with a nagging thought — they were so utterly chaste throughout, not even holding hands and rarely much physical contact, so polite around each other, wonder how real are they and how long it will last outside of the show. Annoyed with the attention grabbing cho-bu Jobu while glad that Taeheon got a comeback, they matched in terms of physique but from the get go, I knew their vastly different personalities, temperaments, and wider age gap will never work for them and it showed in the post show gathering. Enjoyed the individual stories from Hiroya, Ryuki, Kazuyuki, and Tomoaki, all valid and enriching perspectives that resonate and brought more tears than expected and than watching the first season. Overall, had much better overall takeaways from season 2 than from season 1. Quote
