A "nudity gathering" is not quite the same as casual nudity, I feel.

 

A naked gathering is more a contrived event, quite unlike casual nudity.  The latter is more a situation where the circumstances is such that nudity is expected, e.g in a changing room at a swimming pool.  But I suppose if a group of people arrange it such that they gather naked in the changing room of a swimming pool (or similar), it could work.  But it would be rather odd if a group of people remain naked in a changing room and not change, just hang around naked.

Casual nudity is the norm in onsen. Before my going nude experience, I didn't imagine I could do it, with a whole tour bus of people (for onsen experience). Once we started, all was normal and acceptable. Years later, when onsen started in Singapore, I was wondering whether nudity could be possible locally with our conservative culture.  No surprise either as we can see the popularity now. I have invited friends who have never experienced onsen to join me and they were fine to be nude as well. So, casual nudity is acceptable for those who are willing to try.

 

For guys who have done some grooming, such as trim, shave or waxed, isn't it time to show your grooming with pride?

 

I don't understand guys who grab their crotch in nudity-acceptable venues.

It was just me and my platoon mate who stayed in that weekend.

 

We were settling laundry and decided to also throw in the no. 4 we were wearing, and our underwear and socks also into the wash, so we don’t have to do a second round.

 

We realised what a shit move it could be but also what the hell, yolo. We ran back to our bunks holding our boots and realise it’s actually freeing and just hung out naked after showering still. Nonetheless we decided not to get into any trouble by collecting our laundry in PT kit.

I did it a couple of times in the hotel room with a friend while we were on vacation. We were just hanging around in the hotel room naked. With strangers, no emotional baggage attached. I find it less ‘pressure’ as there is no expectation. Better still if they are strangers that I won’t be meeting again for a while, which may not be possible in gym setting.

I agree.  Being naked with strangers is not only liberating, it is pressure free because there is little likelihood of meeting again.

I agree with some posts here on the point that casual nudity is acceptable for those willing to try. We’re not asking for a sexual encounter.

 

When I was posted overseas (too obvious which vocation/unit if I state where), fellow bunk mates would just go nude indoors, and at the furthest to the toilet down the corridor or downstairs — only because it’s not a sexual encounter, so it emboldened me further in uni and eventually at home to be clothes-free within certain boundaries.
