If you had tried varies base-ring sizes within a set (assuming it does come in few smaller sizes) but tend to be either too tight or too loose. For some of the plastic/resin types, was taught to file and sand-down one of the tight fit base ring to ease the grip. Imho I think most plastic cages have wider gaps between the base-ring and cock-cage. Hence if too tight one size up could cause ball slip or just too loose. So sanding down the tighter base-ring so that you get an in between size might work. Alternatively most metal cages tend to have smaller gaps between the base-ring and cock-cage.
