fitnessinsg Posted February 3 Posted February 3 For guys who are fit or are trying to get fit, one of the most (maybe most) important aspect is our diet. So, what are your go to healthy hawker meals? For me, I love eating cai fan, ideally with brown rice and there is always a good selection of veggies and meat for protein. Another good option is Yong tau foo. What does everyone else have? SGFitness Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Chicken rice with steam chicken (minus the skin) and less rice. fitnessinsg 1 Quote
Nivek Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Thunder tea rice Bitter gourd with fish soup Economy rice (choose the healthy options) Yong Tau foo may not be so healthy actually. Not sure what they add to the fishballs and the fried variety is definitely not healthy... fitnessinsg and leckmich 2 Quote
leckmich Posted February 4 Posted February 4 cai fan with rice, just fish and veg fitnessinsg 1 Quote
fitnessinsg Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Good choice with the chicken rice, I just wish that they would give a greater variety of vegetables. Same with thunder tea rice, but in this case, with more protein. Quote

fitnessinsg Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 I usually take the tofu and have a good mix of veggies. It does get a bit boring, but it’s good to mix it up every now and then. Quote

fitnessinsg Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 I still eat some fried items. At the end of the day, must still enjoy life a bit. Just more important to ensure there is a good balance Quote
iKneadyou Posted February 5 Posted February 5 Steamed chicken rice. I dont eat steamed chicken anyways. Satay. Yong Tao Foo. Thai Basil Chicken rice. Döner kebab or shawarma. Kacang Pool. fitnessinsg 1 Quote
fitnessinsg Posted February 5 Author Posted February 5 Oh, a donor kebab is a great idea. Must go and try that the next time I see it at a hawker center Quote

More expensive than YTF but right selection means nutritional balance still good. fitnessinsg 1 Quote

Most of the time, stall that sells only chicken does not offer such option. I go for stall that sells roast pork and char siew because white rice is available most of the time. Yes....I also do not eat the skin. On 2/4/2026 at 11:46 AM, leckmich said: cai fan with rice, just fish and veg yes! My combo too. Unfortunately, if you order fish + 2 non-meat sides, the cai fun price will shoot up. At least $8 for a meal. fitnessinsg and leckmich 2 Quote
leckmich Posted March 22 Posted March 22 true fish can be pricey sometimes the fish they use in fish soup is not fresh, i feel Quote
Nivek Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Bitter gourd+ fish soup is something I used to take and somewhat enjoy. Quote
