Guest hmmm
if anything, birthdays should be spent reflecting on your achievements (or the short of it) and reviewing your aims and directions ahead. and i totally agree with airbin. there has been just too much hype over that one single day of a year. a product of commercialisation i suspect. davecub
Birthday is only special when you have your loved one(s) celebrates it with/for you, otherwise it is another day in a year.I have never taken day off on my birthday before....cos it a public hoilday. Every year on this day, my mom will cook mian-xian with 2 eggs for me for breakfast. For the past few years mom keeps reminding me: "if one day I am gone, you must remember to cook this main-xian for yourself on your birthday cos it will bring your good health, wealth and luck......"My reply: "I definitely will..cos it will always remind me of you & your words, Mom. Thank you!" Edited November 16, 2009 by davecub learn to see the sparkle in others. not just the flaw.
rotikawin
....it will always remind me of you & your words.....so heartwarming...its not a celebration of "me" or "my" or "mine" but a remembrance of what "your" most loved ones has done or did... Guest slayer
Davecub... Gosh your mian xian sentiments just brings tears to my eyes....I have celebrated my birthdays a lot in the past. The all of a sudden, one year on my birthday, my ex-bf decided it was an opportune time to tell me he wanted to end it. So all of a sudden, I was alone. From that year onwards, celebrating birthdays just kinda lost its meaning for me. If there are people who want to get together, fine. If not, seriously it is no big deal. Because no matter what happens, the sun will still rise from the east and set in the west. Just give yourself a special treat if you feel you want to pamper yourself on your birthday. Go to an ultra expensive massage which gives you multiple happy endings, splurge on a pair of pants you have wanted for the longest time, buy a 100-day pass to a sauna, or do something different... buy your friends dinner. There are many ways to pass birthdays on your own. You just need to think out of the box.
GachiMuchi
I will always take a day off during my birthday. I will use that day to pamper myself or ask friend/s out for dinner when I was single or celebrate it with ur family or a love one when I am attached. Yes, it is true, birthday is just another day, u can let it pass or make it memorable. It all depends on u. http://gachimuchi2008.blogspot.com
unitight
When I was living overseas and had a proper baking oven, I used to bake my own birthday cake a day before my birthday and on the day itself shared it among my friends. I will eat whatever I want without ever thinking whether it has too much fat or cholesterol. I baked my cake also using old recipe where pure and freshest ingredients such as butter and sugar are used .. not those fat reduced ones The result are fantastic! :thumb: Edited November 16, 2009 by unitight http://www.trevvy.com/?unitight
chapapa
If I was alone on my birthday, I might just sit in front of my computer and watch DVDs the whole night and just chill out with wine, beer whatever or just play my favorite games. I would try to invite friends over to accompany me while watching (and cuddle!) but thats a wish... so hard to find good company nowadays. (They just want to get into your pants)

gaygaysin
among these 33 special days, 80% of the time i spent it alone like any other normal day. woke up alone as usual, went to school/work alone as usual, study/working as usual, had my usual breakfast/lunch/dinner, went back home alone as usual, switch on tv & pc as usual, went to bed as usual, and finally start another usual day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO U if ur "big day is coming".

ixmog
I don't celebrate birthday. Whether I'm alone or friends wanted to celebrate for me. I feel awkward if friends celebrate for me. It's just a day where I have an excuse to buy another expensive gadget, diamond or rolex Edited November 17, 2009 by ixmog

castaway
1 - If I have a partner , then it is easier to celebate a birthday. Going out to have special dinner in a nice romantic restaurant or cook a great dinner together THAT day.2 - If I dont have partner , I will bring my family out for great dinner @ nice restaurant THAT day (if case 1, normally my Mum will cook a great dinner in another day for us) 3 - If both above case dont fit you, I will bring and treat my best friends out for good dinner. 4 - If being alone, no partner, no family, no best friends, I will give myself a good dinner @ a nice restaurant OR plan a short trip to somewhere, depends on the number of birthday and number in my bank account. Sometimes, the greatest journey is the distance between two people
tic-toc
I do nothing. I take it just like any other day. PS : nobody remembers my birthday anyway. If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.
