***THIS IS NOT A TROLL POST. THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING but I'm sorry for updating so late because I couldn't get access to the movie timings until now***

 

FOR WHOM: All 199Xers who see this

 

WHAT: Lunch, and/or followed by movie outing

 

WHEN: This Saturday (24 Jan) i.e. tomorrow afternoon @12PM

 

WHERE: Orchard MRT. Meet here then we'll go get our tickets at Shaw.

 

***There's a SAFRA-Shaw offer/partnership so anyone with the RED SAFRA card please bring along (together with your NRIC). If there's still stock, we can get 1-for-1 tickets***

 

PERSON OF CONTACT: Me (Josh). PM me to get my number and we can whatsapp through there.

 

PROGRAMME: Choice between:

- 1:50PM: The Theory of Everything
- 2PM: The Imitation Game
- 2:10PM: Seventh Son
- 2:30PM: Into the Woods
- 2:40PM: Taken 3

 

We don't need to all watch the same thing. We can split up into smaller groups if need be.

 

POST PROGRAMME: Possible, so do PM me if you can only come after the movie ends, i.e. around 5PM. We may stay for dinner or do other fun stuff.

 

TURNOUT: Expected to be around 10, at least (though I've seen numbers swell to close to 25 in the past). Don't feel shy that you don't know anyone. Firstly, it's the virgin step to get to know more bros & sistas your age; and I can assure you if you are shy you can talk to me cos I'm your friendly organizer :)

Yea I know. Cos Shaw wouldn't release their weekend timings until Thursday 6PM.

Suggestion:

Say earlier about the event, then state that timings won't be out till Thursday. On Thursday night, bring up the topic again with the suggested timing.

 

That way, there is more time for people to know about the event and there is more time for people to consider about it.

Yes I notified people about the event more than 1 week in advance (on Facebook, not here unfortunately), but I think many were still transitioning from holiday mood, or Poly exams, or enlistment, ORD, start of uni etc etc so the response was slow. Regardless, I do hope to have greater window of time in the future, as you suggested.

I Am Kim is really not bad! If I remember correctly, the beer there is pretty cheap as well! Y'all can definitely consider I Am Kim. Would love to join, being a huge fan of KBBQ, but I have my final presentation the day after and will need to prepare. :/

It very much is. Because the original guys (like me) of this thread are at the busy phases of life (army/uni/work) and new guys (like you! yay!) comes in and says hi but doesn't arrange any outings or chat much even.

 

There still is a steady inflow of guys newly 18 into this forum but they don't notice or feel associate with the 199X group, so if someone could rally these people that would be great :D

Revival of the oldies?

 

It's not nice to have this dismissive tone, 199x is simply an age group (just like 198x and 197x) and need not be equivalent or even affiliated to "the oldies".

 

There's a lot of new guys over the last few years who never had an opportunity to be part of a bigger-scale outing to make many good and real friends and I think Impere is doing something commendable in organizing this. Definitely more effort and definitely better effect than all those lousy LINE groups.
