It not only depends on the pre-existing members, you as the newcomer must play a part in building rapport with the fellow group members (you sign up for it in the first place, you've to know what you're going to expect). Apparently this group is burgeoning at quite a tremendous rate (it's INEVITABLE; a group belonging to a free forum, with unlimited membership); and the influx of new members may be off-putting to some pre-existing members. The reason why activities are frequently carried out for the group members is simple; for everyone to make new friends. That's the main purpose of this group. For the 199X guys to come together and know more people of the same age, and from there you will find people of similar interests/likings, which will lead on to a more purposeful social life aside from what you already have. This 199X group is NOT an organisation or whatsoever that requires its members to abide by a set of rules and regulations and operate purely on certain guidelines and instructions. Anyone can participate in our outings (as long as you're 199X, and sincerely wish to make new friends), and anyone is free to leave the group whenever you feel that the group doesn't cater to your needs. There is no obligation of any sort. Lastly, I want to point out that ANYONE from the group have the rights to organise activities for the members to participate in.
