it's hard to find a quiet place, alone to relax and yet not so much money spent..

well, cheapest will be going to the library, queenstown library is quite isolated, used to go there

Saunas? going as low as 10 bucks per entry.

some of the cafe, along Ang Siang Hills, there are some nice coffee shops to sear and relax, read a book or play with ipad there.

if got a bit of $$, then go for a good high tea, at good wood park?st regis?

outdoor wise

if you are staying in the east, and the weather is good, go ECP, pasir ris with your story books, ebooks

if north then Woodlands MRT, the walkway below the tracks are quite nice

if west then west coast, NUS, NTU, quiet during the weekends in these places.

in town, weekend raffles places,SMU

chub4chub, if you don't mind spending a little money and hearing a bit of noise. There is a chub ktv pub called +plus. The people there are friendly, no, they won't come and just chat you up. But you get to enjoy a glass of liquor or wine listening to people sing in an open environment. Good place to pass a few hours after work.

Hmms, it's quite difficult ya? Especially when one is not attached and seriously got nothing to do and you don't wanna stay at home.

Unfortunately Singapore is such a small place so you WILL definitely find anywhere not quiet (except for HDB corridors and staircases. LOL)

But if you don't mind finding quiet places in the crowds, here's some suggestions:

  • Jurong Point level 3 cake shop (can't remember the name) - just walk inside after the starbucks coffee, you'll find it. It's not too crowded there actually. Free wifi - surf BW forum and check out if anyone sees you! :)
  • Changi Airport - cater for the east but I often go there for some quiet times (just being there for coffee or studying Japanese)
  • Sentosa - if you don't mind the hot blazing sun (not this season) and have a stroll with the cooling sea sounds, it's kinds refreshing actually. Although it's quite a dating place for couples.
  • East coast - similar to sentosa. Nice place to walk about and see topless dudes running.
  • Safra MF Ya Kun - great place to just relax with coffee, can have discount if you have Safra member.

Haven't expolred the north, though. Maybe soon...

I'd beg to differ.

Actually there ARE a lot of quiet little corners all over Singapore. Pick a working weekday and most parks and gardens will be peaceful, as would most of the beaches, especially the further reaches. Even Botanic Gardens and Hort Park are relatively quiet in the shady niches (so long you don't mind the birds and insects)

There are also the upper reaches of the Singapore River, mouth of Kallang River, Sembawang field, Punggol Waterfront Park, most of Changi Boardwalk, to add to the list already mentioned. Lots of calm areas to stroll. Enjoy the outdoors.

Or if you are the kind for a built environment, there are the libraries. Clarke Quay is very peaceful in the mornings, too, if you pick your timings carefully. The sky gardens of many HDB flats are equally peaceful - Punggol, Tiong Bahru, Chinatown, Yew Tee....

Go for a walk, read a good book, take up a hobby, learn Singapore's heritage, pick up photography, etc.

Enjoy!

Go cycling in Punggol PCN... many nice spots you can park and just sit there... enjoy the breeze and sea... alone ... it's very very liberating... do bring some water/snack if staying long - it's a few km in/out to get really 'alone' :)

Totally agrees with you balo... I love to cycle along punggol PCN. Will cycle from buangkok PCN all the way to punggol. Love the sights, exotic birds too.. Jerk off at some of the shelter too when there is no one looking...

Hope to catch up with you on day.
