A Man name Trek, has heard that out of his village there is a river where he can fish big fish, which in return he can do a worthwhile deal in selling the fish he caught.

One fine day , he board his little boat and set sail to this river. Trek is a simple minded man, he believes hard work pays off, and he is also very persistant in doing the task that he wanted to fullfill. He has bought along some reasonable snack which might hold him for a day.

The sun is sunny and hot, Trek is patiently waiting for his big catch, he waited and waited.....yet there is no sign of any fish. Trek is not born or train to be a fisherman, he only bought a simple sharpen rod to hunt, as the rod was given to him by a fisherman whom had told him about the tale in this river.

After hours of waiting, the weather seem not in his favour, it started to rain heavily, Trek persist to wait for the fish to swim pass his boat, he continue to wait in the storm. The sun has set and Trek is still waiting, and he fall asleep while waiting for the fishes.

He woken early next morning, and look around, but there arent any fishes around him, he didnt turn back but choose to wait. After a few hours of waiting, he saw another boat drifting towards his boat, there is a monk on the other boat.

Trek asked the monk, " Hi, Sir, are you here for the fishes?" The monk smile at him and told him, I am a vegetarian. So Trek was in a relief that he would have all the fishes for himself, simple minded yet a greedy man. The monk told Trek to set home, as there arent any fishes in this river, the river is dirty and fishes from the sea are unable to survive in this dirty river. Trek told the monk that he saw villagers coming back with big fishes. The monk gave him a smile and told Trek that he will accompany Trek in waiting for the fishes.

The monk did not talk to Trek from there onwards, but just meditating on his boat. The night fall, and Trek are unable to find fishes, the monk woken, and again asked Trek to set for home but Trek insist on waiting.

Trek has finished all the snack that he bought, and he fall asleep till the next morning. When he wake up, he could not find the monk, neither any sign of his boat. The monk had left some fruits for Trek and left a note for him.

This is what the monk worte;

Young man,

I admire your persistant in acheiving to catch the fishes in this river,

I envy your simplicity,I am delighted to see your courage but you are blind by your fishes which led you to endless waiting, perceive by tale deceive the mind.

The fool who knows one's own folly,

is wise at least to that extent;

but the fool who thinks oneself wise is really a fool.

After reading the note, Trek realised something, and he set for home. Trek was delgihted that, he had met the monk, and he know his mistake, he realise how stupid of him not to sail to the sea, where he can find more fishes.

:D

There is a moral in this story friend.

ehh, maybe the story supposed to teach us to go gym to build up muscles, so that we don't wait for ikan bilis at the dirty longkang at fort road but walk further in the hot sun to the seaside where the fishes are more happening? :rolleyes:

or maybe the monk is trying to cruise the fisherman?

that's why he offered to accompany him. even close his eyes so that the fisherman can touch him?

so the next morning when nothing happen, the monk went away.

if you change the scenario a bit, a fisherman looked guy was cruising in FR, no catch (maybe wrong timing), a mature man came back (the monk) told guy no man cruise here anymore. guy insisted to wait, mature man waited coz guy is his type but left after sometime. guy finally realised that he had cruise at the wrong part of FR

the moral of the story is once you see the man you like, go str8 forward, dont pretend pretend and spur out chim words.

The art of romancing is surely lost among our young. :)

Very often, the chase is much much more exciting than the kill.

OralB...

Trek is not a fisherman....you have great imagination on the PLU side, but the moral of the story is not really related to PLU behaviour is something more towards handling relationship.

this has gotta be good... i am waiting for your revelation as to how this story translates into a valuable lesson for PLUs in handling relationships. please don't keep us in suspense any longer... plzzzz

Life is fragile...time wait for no one...

Sometimes..we are just too focus on someone, or somethings...the more we focus the more we lost track...Life is about learning...as we learn we shape ourselves, as we shape ourselves, we gain experiences, as we gain experiences we open our heart more.

Emotion are a funny thing, it challenge our mind very often, it stirred our analytical mind to think better, having a high IQ does not mean having a high EQ, there is a balance needed. We made many choices each day, but live up to the choices we made, a broken stem can grow back, a turtle can hide his head and can stick out his head, life is not about just someone, or something, its about everyone and all things around you.

Trek learn a moral in the meeting of the monk, its not about where to find fishes, its that he has awaken from the mistake and the foolish waiting. Its never too late to realise a mistake but its too late when you made more.

no problem with the moral explained but cannot see connection to the story cos the story clearly ended with the realisation that it's the location that counts. (After reading the note, Trek realised something, and he set for home. Trek was delgihted that, he had met the monk, and he know his mistake, he realise how stupid of him not to sail to the sea, where he can find more fishes.)

anyway, simplicity and stupidity are two different qualities. trek was not simple, he was dumb. he tried to fish using a sharpened rod. he failed to recognise that the filth in the river did not allow the fishes to survive in it. he was unable to ask questions to clarify the information he received.

simplicity is beautiful and refreshing but stupidity is frustrating and irritating.

simplicity leads to persistence and patience, great for overcoming major hiccups in a relationship and keeping it going for forever.

stupidity leads to stubborn refusal to face reality and make important changes that are necessary to keep a relationship alive. stupidity leads to communication breakdown.
