Enelym1978
My trip to Cebu, Moalboal and Oslob was amazing! Nice little family resort, amazing snorkeling and diving, got to see the whale sharks in Oslob. Perfect! Here are some pics. More details if someone wants to go to those places. Whale Sharks in Oslob (about 1h30 drive if leave Cebu at 5am). If you leave too late, it's super crowded and the traffic is a mess. Asian Belgian Dive Resort in Moalboal. About 2h30 drive from Cebu. They do pick up for 2500 PHP but a taxi is cheaper from Cebu, 1500 PHP On the way back from Oslob, we stopped at the famous Kawasan waterfalls. Worth a short trip since it's on the way back. Then we stopped at the Taloot Pier/Wharf for some fresh seafood. You get to walk on this bamboo bridge to reach the restaurant on top of the water. And hello, that's me hehe. Edited January 2, 2014 by Enelym1978

zzzzzzzz
Great pics!Do you get the see the whale shark everyday or just seasonal? How much is it/dive?
Enelym1978
Great pics!Do you get the see the whale shark everyday or just seasonal? How much is it/dive? Well, the fishermen are feeding them off their boats (about 10-20 boats) every single day, from 7am to 12:30pm or something like that. They give small amounts of krills each time... it's not really super ethical or eco-friendly though.... but well.... It does attract them every day. You get to go for 500 PHP if you just stay on the boat, 1000 PHP if you want to snorkel (limited to 30 minutes). Not sure if you need to pay for the snorkel and the fins cuz I had my own... zzzzzzzz
Ya. I read about it. Apparently, WWF and the tourism board of Cebu voiced their concerns. But the next best alternative is another place which need 2 transfer, in Luzon area to dive with the whales. Hard to find the time needed cos the peak season is from feb to May.
zzzzzzzz
And the price is of course much higher but receive the endorsement from WWF as they are protected.

joshTWjosh
Hello! Was planning on a summer beach trip to Boracay in July. Is that a good time? Would it be wise to also have a stopover at Manila or any other Filipino city or should I just stick to Boracay?
Maroons0001
July is rainy season. best time to go is during February to April (summer season). But expect the beach to be crowded during those times. Better stick to Boracay as traffic situtation in Manila is always heavy. If you really want to go Manila, better stay in Makati or Bonifacio global city area.
Guest Josh
May and early June is still ok to go to Boracay. I suggest you take Manila-Caticlan-Boracay route as it's easier although a little bit expensive compared to flying in to Kalibo. Kalibo airport is hellish most of the time as it's very small and can easily become very crowded. You can stop over to Manila if you like. But as people are saying, traffic these days is very very bad due to several road constructions. But since you are already in PH, you must give Manila a try. It's a different experience. I've been to most of the capital cities in Southeast Asia and I feel Manila is different. The vibe is just different. You have to experience it to understand it. But then again, as a first timer, I suggest you stick to Makati, BGC, MOA areas. I'm pretty sure you'll spend 2 days just to see these 3 places. Just a reminder, leave your hotel 3 hours before your departure time in Manila, again because of the traffic. Enjoy!
joshTWjosh
Thanks for the advice. I can only travel earliest in June due to school, but I'm avoiding June because airfare is crazy expensive this month. Looks like I may postpone my trip to next year if I really want to catch the summer beach haha.
