I couldn't believe it either. When I saw it I was just like oh shit sure die one. I haven't played versions after FireRed LeafGreen (relate this to red blue yellow) i heard the newer versions weren't as good, I play red blue yellow on Meboy emulator for phone with java (old)Ruby Sapphire Emerald on My LGP500/Xperia Mini Pro with My Boy! emulatorhaven't really played to the end for FireRed LeafGreen. Maybe when I get a DS Emu on PC I will play some of the newer versions. Bulbapedia makes a good online guide, if you don't want to spend money buying guide books. (and right now I'm totally hankering for X&Y!)I'm very much into competitive pokemon play though, and every few months or so I go on a frenzy of playing pokemon competitively on emulator platforms.
