"How" or "Who"? "Who" is relatively easy - look for a thai cook or culinary teacher or Thai bpyfriend who cooks well.

As for "how", first, you need to be familiar with their very basic culinary ingredients like,

- fish sauce

- lime juice( as opposed to calamansi which is prefered in Malay/Nyonya cooking or lemon in Western )

- palm sugar

- lemongrass

- kafir lime leaves and rind

- bird eye chilli & chilli flakes

- the 3 basic curry pastes - green, red & yellow

......then, try to understand the philosophy behind their cuisine, eg,

- flavours need to stand out and yet balance one another

- fresh herbs & raw ingredients are an integral part of dining

- while fancily carved fruit & veggies seem typical along with cutesy mungbean miniature 'fruit', the driving force behind it all is their attention to detail and doing things well. Hence, a dish can be simple but it will mostly be carefully prepared.

So, now that you're mentally ready, get yourself a good Thai cookbook and with guidance from the internet and experienced people, go for it!
